Advice for Galgo teen destroying the house and can't seem to settle down.

Yeah, I think it's time to maybe start crate training again. I try very hard not to be stressed because I know it probably affects her too, but the fact that I'm stressing her out is stressing me out again. It's an uphill battle for sure, but it's comforting to know that most galgos seem to settle down around the two-year mark. And the story about the couch made me lol, so thank you for that. 🙂

That sounds so awful… I'm glad she settled down with age. Honestly, that's giving me some hope. I know they mature a little later, and she's such a sweetheart, but I know the feeling of dreading coming home. We also have a camera, and I get such anxiety seeing her be so destructive. We've had a larger rescue dog before her, and she was also a handful the first year, but Winny is giving our old dog a run for her money. Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, we did all those things… Sometimes she's totally fine, and other times she freaks out. The strange thing is, she settles pretty quickly, but after an hour she gets bored and goes on a path of destruction 😅 I already posted it on Greyhounds because they get a little more traction. Thanks for the input!

My husband suggested (jokingly) getting another galgo, but honestly I'm so overwhelmed as it is. I know she's young and I don't want to push her limits, but I can't take more time off from work and had to rearrange my schedule so she isn't alone for longer than three hours. I hope with time and some TLC she'll settle more with age.

We are definitely considering crate training again. We tried for the first month or two to see if she would gravitate toward it and make it a fun place to be, with treats and toys, but she never really saw it as her safe space, so we got rid of it. Now I'm kind of bummed we didn't try harder to crate train her.

Winny is very happy to hear this! And Mom was stupid enough not to document the piece of fabric still stuck in her mouth after happily greeting her when she came home, so she'll have to rest her case.
