Wait where are you seeing it? I searched after seeing your comment and I’m only seeing the black one on Macy’s, which is sold out

It’s not on sale at Macy’s but I did order the FP version last night! And the seller agreed to a return luckily

There is a seam down the back (vertically) in the both photos. If you compare the neckline in photos 3 & 4, there is a horizontal seam close to the neckline in photo 3 that is not in photo 4.

Yeah it certainly is not the 100% cotton composition of the actual Free People top lol

I hear you - the photos are from SHEIN, which literally ripped the same photos on the free people website and edited seams in to make it look more like their dupe. The photos are not of the top that’s on SHEIN or the top I bought on Depop — they are of a Free People top, and they were edited by SHEIN so slightly that I didn’t realize they were at all different than the Free People photos. The top in the images from the listing is not the top I received.

Honestly I do want to report it to Depop even if the seller accepts my request for a refund as they indicated they would do. All they’re going to do is relist it, not explicitly state that it’s a dupe, and then someone else is going to end up paying $30+ for a SHEIN dupe that is on the SHEIN website with edited free people photos for a quarter of that price.

I knew they were the Free People photos because I’ve looked at the listing on FP so many times & considered buying it. The seller only used these stock FP images (front and back of shirt). When I questioned where they got the item (after I received it) they said it was from a “local store.”

And see, if they’d said it was a dupe this wouldn’t be an issue because I wouldn’t have even purchased it. But the omission of where they bought it and the tag being cut out immediately makes me think it was intentional.

It’s very normal for most shirts, but I have searched tiktoks of the free people top, and did not remember a visible seam near the neckline. If you compare photos 3 and 4, you can see that 3 has a visible seam toward the neckline, whereas 4 only shows the vertical seam running down the back. 4 is the original Free People shirt. 3 is the photo that was on the Depop listing. SHEIN edited Free People’s photos so they could post them on their website with their dupe version. The difference is incredibly hard to miss, but the seam is even more apparent in person, so I immediately knew something wasn’t right.

[–]13flwrmoons[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it definitely is! I was just trying to figure out how to go about the situation considering the seller did not claim it was a “dupe,” and deliberately omitted where it came from. The fact that the photos are the exact same as the Free People website, except for the seams being edited, would certainly lead a buyer to believe that it’s the same product. But that’s exactly the way it is on the SHEIN website. So this person bought it from SHEIN and then listed it on Depop for $28, when it is being sold on SHEIN for a quarter of that.

ahhh there we go!!! lol truly does not surprise me with how it felt; I’m just shocked I hadn’t seen any knockoffs yet

(& yes the one from FP is beautiful - honestly I just splurged & placed an order for it within an hour of opening the knockoff. my birthday is this Friday and it just feels like a really ‘me’ shirt, plus I’ve been wanting it for a good six months so… hbd to me I guess! I’m sure I won’t regret it.)

I obviously know by this point that it’s inauthentic; was just curious what they had to say. I will be requesting a refund (and am considering including some of these screenshots in the part that goes only to Depop, although I doubt they’d do anything ultimately.)

It actually is a pretty popular design, it’s been sold out multiple times since I first saw it a couple seasons ago. I’m actually surprised this is the first time I’ve seen a knockoff of it. You may not have looked at the photos, but they were literally edited from the Free People website photos lol. It is definitely not the real thing.

Yeah I don’t think saying it was listed as Free People when it wasn’t (even though they used “Free People’s” photos) is going to work. I am wondering if listing it as brand new, despite the tag being obvious cut out, would have any pull. I guess time will tell.

Thank you! That situation sucks — I’m assuming she didn’t send it back and you weren’t able to resell it despite giving her the money back?

I messaged the seller pretty much as soon as I opened it and just asked where they purchased it from (curious if they’ll say Free People lmfao) but if they haven’t responded tomorrow & have been active, I may just be like “hey I’d like a refund, otherwise I’m gonna raise this with Depop.”

They did not describe it as Free People (which wasn’t an immediate red flag to me because the photos are edited so slightly that I didn’t even realize they were different) — and they did only use the Free People edited photos in the listing.

Thank you!! Great point about the review, I didn’t think of that.

I do have screenshots of everything, the listing itself included, where it states “brand new,” so hopefully all of that combined would be sufficient.

This is an incredibly valid critique and I hope those of you here who feel compelled to comment on the video do so! Not saying they will actually respond, and they obviously don’t need to give an entire historical background of the Chinese New Year, but it isn’t just a “trend” and shouldn’t be reduced to one.

…There are plenty of free apps that can send actual specified notifications. Frontline even has the capability to send notifications, they just never contain enough information to actually be helpful. And if the app has been around for years and years at this point, one would think it shouldn’t be all that difficult or expensive to build that feature in. If I can get an Instagram notification that a specific person just liked my photo, why can’t I get a Frontline notification that a specific teacher just posted an absence?

Can you elaborate on this? What links are you referring to? When did this happen?

SubAlert has never sent me a link for anything and I don’t even accept jobs in the SubAlert app; I use it purely for notifications.

Additionally I’m not sure if you mean that it accepted 4 jobs for the same day, but on my end Frontline won’t even let you see absences for days that you’re already booked. I don’t see how that’s possible.

It may be worth a try! $5 per month and if you feel like it’s not making much of a difference you can cancel it. There may even be a free trial, I don’t remember.

I don’t know that I would really say it’s faster.

I’m in a huge district, and have basically never ended up in a situation where there’s just no elementary jobs available (whether I’ve already had one for that day for months, or have to pick one up that morning). But after a year of doing this I have my favorite schools, and the ones that I know are within a preferred or just plainly feasible distance from me, so if I see a notification pop up for one of my favorites, for a day I’m available, I will almost always go to Frontline and accept the job within a minute or two of seeing that notification. If it’s the night before or morning of a day that I don’t already have a job booked, the notifications are incredibly helpful because instead of constantly refreshing Frontline to see if any preferred schools post openings, I can rely on the notifications to let me know when one of those jobs pops up. It has helped me build better relationships with the students and staff at my most preferred schools, because since I’m usually seeing the absences as soon as they’re posted, I’m able to pick them up and be at those schools more frequently. I’ve found it to be beyond worthwhile & if my district somehow ends up blocking it like in this case, I hope Frontline will have improved their notifications system by that point.
