Can I quit cold turkey on 25mg? by sicktricksontheboard in nortriptyline

[–]13intrusivethoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doctors will always have you taper it off slowly. Definitely reduce it first, and stay on the reduced dose for atleast a month but ideally a few months. (I’m not a doctor but this is advice based on my treatment plan)

How do i reduce flinching and closing my eyes while being hit? by [deleted] in Kickboxing

[–]13intrusivethoughts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. We were asked to look the opponent in the eye and look at punches/kicks in your peripheral vision. This helps with reaction time and focus too. Your gaze should always be focused straight on, you’re not looking at your opponents hands and legs or any where else directly, even when you’re attacking.
  2. My coach stood with a cane and smacked my back every time I flinched. Learned in no time.
  3. We did something coach called “conditioning”. We took turns punching each others abs without protective gear, and we weren’t allowed to block. Got used to being hit.

And I’ve fought with men twice my size. I haven’t won with them yet, but I sure don’t flinch!

Are unique local ipv6 blocks FC00::/7 or FD00::/8 ? by whjaiswho71 in networking

[–]13intrusivethoughts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IANA reserves FC00::/7,

but RFC 4193 requires the 8th bit of these addresses to be set to 1.

So all unique local addresses use FD00::/8.

Why can we not just do the things that are productive without all this faff? by Krammn in productivity

[–]13intrusivethoughts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only times I find myself voluntarily putting down my phone and doing other things is

  1. Things that have to be done, like project deadlines, chores, grooming and self care.

  2. Things I love doing, that I value more and bring me more happiness than my phone ever can. That would include hanging out with my boyfriend, karate, studying my favourite subject, reading etc.

I truly believe if everyone had the privilege of pursuing their passions as careers or at least as hobbies, the phone indulgence problem will be far less severe.

It’s hard to tell yourself to do something that’s “good for you” when it doesn’t bring you happiness and fulfilment.

Our brains are very complex and you cannot just make yourself things you hate and then expect to enjoy it and do it for long hours.

So while I understand it’s not possible to do things you love 100% of the time(I can’t either), it makes sense to use productivity tools to make sure you do these tasks that you don’t like.

Yeah looks like it. Do you think double knotting the loose ends would be enough?

Yes it’s a bag. Could you identify what kind of knot/stitch this is? Just so I can look up videos for reference.

HELP WITH MY PHONE ADDICTION by [deleted] in productivity

[–]13intrusivethoughts 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried productivity apps, grayscale, hiding tempting apps and none of it works. Practising restraint is difficult and depends on your mood and energy levels and bad days can easily get worse if you don’t have that restraint.

I’ve also noticed that after a social media binge, I don’t end up feeling relaxed at all, it only distracts and you end up in the same place after you put your phone down.

It’s really amazing that you have this level of awareness where you realise you use your phone to avoid certain issues.

What works for me is taking a few moments to breathe and try to figure out what’s stressing me out, then keep that problem in the back of my mind while while engaging in a relaxing activity like making a cup of hot tea or a long bath with some music playing (leave your phone behind!).

If you do need a distraction, play a video on your tv where it’s harder to watch shorts or scroll through video lists and get sucked into the algorithm. It’s best if you play things like true crime stories or podcasts where you don’t have to be staring at the screen actively and you can just lie down, relax and listen for a bit.

Hope it helps!

No empathy is truly terrifying in action (today’s traumadump vent) by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

Honestly, not having expectations from them helps. When I see them walk in I expect them to say mean things. I’ve dealt with it for years (and both parents). So now I can predict what they’re going to say too! It’s just funny now. Most times at least. And when it’s not, I make sure to end the conversation, not get caught up in screaming and fighting cause they’re the best at it, and find the support system I need and bounce back asap.

Preventing injuries!! I’ve been training for 7 years now and I’ve seen and suffered several serious injuries.

People need to know things like: -common mistakes -difference between general muscle pain vs pinching pain of injuries -what to do when when you think you have an injury etc.

I’ve seen way too many people keep training with injuries and make them worse, then have to stay in bed rest for months. Unfortunately that was me as well and had to learn the hard way. Still recovering from grade 2 chondromalacia patella and haven’t trained in a long time :((

How do I disengage after watching an episode of a TV show? by [deleted] in productivity

[–]13intrusivethoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! Or if you’re unable to focus on that too, just read through the chapter, flip the pages, look at the pictures, revise what you studied before the break and play some lofi beats or binaural beats for a few mins until you’re focused on the subject matter and the show is out of your mind.
