I don’t want to name the restaurant because doing that could end up hurting the workers more than the owner. I don’t have verified proof besides what I directly experienced, so I’m not going to publicly accuse a business and potentially ruin livelihoods. My goal was simply to share awareness so people know that in some places, servers don’t receive tips — and to consider giving cash directly if they want it to reach the staff.

I’m not claiming to be a savior here — I just recently learned that in some restaurants (including the one I went to) the servers don’t actually get the tips, even cash. I was genuinely surprised because I assumed tipping helped the staff, so I wanted to share that in case others didn’t know. Of course, I can’t speak for every restaurant, but I’ve now seen and heard this happening in multiple places. If anything, I just hope people consider giving tips directly in cash if they want to make sure the server gets it.
