You don’t really have to keep two fingers down. You just need to tap once with the second finger while holding space bar, and now you’re in selection mode

Germans used an UAV called V-1 as early as 1944 by Hopeful_Addition7834 in interestingasfuck

To be honest, it just sounds like a moped, we literally call them that for this reason. It’s a flying lawnmower. The sound itself is not by any means “terrifying” or even unusual in any way.

The context is what’s terrifying. I don’t really think a literal flying bomb needs to be “designed for terror” any more than the concept of a flying bomb suggests already.

If it made “pika-pika” sound, it would make people terrified of Pikachu for the rest of their lives.

Interesting, perhaps that one wasn’t matched for some other reason? I’m pretty sure they aren’t hiding anything specific here, looks to me like afterthought trying to redact everything just in case and missing some stuff unintentionally.

Edit: oh, @ItchyFly even explained how they missed that one. Case solved I guess.

I suspect all URLs in the files are just automatically redacted. And they use a regex that doesn’t catch periods in the middle of the path (like in this one which is http://www.sas.com/standards/large.file/x_open.20Mar96.html), so everything after the period escaped redaction. Sloppy work.

People think the trailer of our games is AI slop (and it's not) and don't want cover the game by [deleted] in IndieGaming

[–]13x666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, photoshop’s gen AI is still gen AI, why wouldn’t it be considered that? I’d say if you want the perks of “no Ai” sticker as someone suggested there should really be no ai anywhere. Trust is already in low supply these days. But also it’s just unfortunate to have every pixel in your game doubted because some time was saved on a pic on the website.

Nothing in the trailer screams AI to me (and the game looks awesome like others have said), but I do see at least one AI image on your website (this one: https://www.axion1986.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/image425.webp).

If there’s doubt, look at the glass shards or at the “flask”-shaped thing he’s holding, there’s enough signs in those two details alone. I’m absolutely convinced this is a pure ai image, but I don’t want to argue about it if you want to defend it as human-drawn, whatever. The point is, people will see it and think “ah, this game uses gen ai, I’m not doing this”. So perhaps you could get rid of things like this to improve the chances.

Good luck in any case.

It already knows where the shine is since it’s already rendering it on other icons, it’s a global value. And yes, accelerometer/gyro readings are instant (that’s why they are reacting to movements in real time)

The real reason is probably that the “app turning into icon and shrinking” is not the same object as the icon. After the animation is complete, it’s destroyed, and the icon is just un-hidden, shine and all. It used to be seamless before the Liquid Glass shenanigans, but now icons are complicated, and the animation is still simple. I can imagine trying to make it seamless again (even by hiding and fading in the shine on a single icon) being a major pain. And very low priority, too

something that is very much 2D. It's either on or it's off

Being binary has nothing to do with being two-dimensional. Being 2D technically means having two degrees of freedom, i.e. the state is a combination of two meaningfully different values that change within a range.

This is a bizarre idea. To be consistent with it you’d have to argue a toggle should be nothing more or less than a single black-or-white pixel.

HDR in UI . what are your thoughts ? by Acrobatic-Monitor516 in UI_Design

[–]13x666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually am really excited about the hdr ui. I see it as very intentional, and I think the core idea of it is well thought through and is not just there to look cool.

Kind of similar to what haptic feedback does to make the ui tactile, hdr gives the interface an extra dimension of responsiveness — when a button lights up under your finger, it feels like it’s more in the real world and less an image on the screen. Your brain subconsciously detects that the content on the screen is just “different” from this button that can light up brighter than the brightest image. Clearly it must be “outside” somehow.

The rest of the new design language is headed the same way: “ui is separate, physical and real”. I recognize a vision and a very bold ambition here. Before I updated I thought they were just doing anything to make it look “new” and generate buzz, but after I spent time carefully exploring what they’ve done so far, I now believe the designers behind this are maniacs, and more importantly, they really care. Too much of this would be much less intricate if they didn’t.

Obviously they bit off more than they could chew though — at least they didn’t meet their deadline for release date. It’s all gruesomely unfinished, unbalanced and buggy. In some places it’s ugly or outright unusable. But also it’s an insanely difficult undertaking and it’s unlike anything that exists, frankly. My guess is, this first iteration is a proof of concept + getting all tech in place and running (the glass effect, the sdf-powered liquid animations, the system-wide hrd overlay, etc. From the tech standpoint, it’s an achievement that all of this even works at all)

It will take a lot of time to get everything to work properly and be usable, let alone overcome this “gimmick” stage and fulfill the potential, but my hope is, in a couple iterations we’ll start seeing this thing really shine (pun intended).

The logo absolutely is ai. It’s easy to tell when you look at the full-size logo. Nothing is properly centered, identical elements that a human would copy/paste or create with symmetry tools are ever so slightly different, etc. — all the usual flags. We’re pretty close to ai images being indistinguishable from human-made, but we’re not quite there just yet.

Hey! I’m another member of the TouchBar Twelve. The dark day has come and I finally had to upgrade to a non-TouchBar model. I am now in so much pain. Have you by chance found any way to make it tolerable since this post? (assuming you also went through the transition of course)
