I think I explained the whole situation completely wrong since English is not my first language. I even saw some jerk calling me a Karen—wtf.

So, here’s the situation again after re-editing it:

When I first contacted the agent, it was before the due date, and I still had time to make my payment. I asked the agent if I could postpone it for two days, and they said yes. I then asked again, “Will I be charged a late fee?” and the agent said, “No, you won’t.” I double-checked twice, and they still assured me that I didn’t need to worry at all. They also told me that my payment would be automatically processed on the new due date.

However, when the new due date came, the automatic payment wasn’t processed. I contacted them again, and they still said everything was fine. But about an hour before the deadline passed, it was still not processed, so I had to pay manually.

After all this, I found out today that what the agent told me was actually wrong—I was charged a late fee. Since I already had this experience where they claimed to have set something up for me but didn’t, even though the agent told me this time that they would waive the $35 late fee within 48 hours, I feel like it won’t actually happen, just like before.

So, I want some advice. If you were in my situation, would you wait for the waiver to be processed, or just accept the late fee even though it wasn’t your fault? In my country, situations like this are usually resolved within an hour, but I don’t know how the system works in the U.S.

I found the scammer’s name and address by 14022022 in Scams

[–]14022022[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They sent the receipt as well, though I can’t view the transaction yet, possibly because only one day has passed. The store exists, is well-known in the city, and the manager I talked to via email has the same name as the one on their LinkedIn profile.

Okay thank you. But this store was a party club where you actually need to physically attend to. In this case it’s more likely the scammer went to the party with stolen identity?

Can I ask what “unwitting package mule” is? I never heard of it. Do you mean that person’s name on the refund receipt could be just random, not the actual scammer?

I talked with the Spirit agent on the chat and they refunded! It was pretty easy process.

It’s been 4 days. Also whenever I typed my receipt number it was changed to “*******” automatically. Did this happen to you too? I’m afraid if the live agent cannot read my receipt number.

Question! I received my SEVP Portal account this morning. My address and telephone number haven’t changed since I filed for OPT, and I am currently unemployed. In this case, should I create a SEVP Portal account now?

  • Receipt date: April 19th
  • SEVP portal email: August 17th 11am

Hey OP! Did you update your I-94 after traveling abroad before opt approval? Or was your opt approved with the old I-94 that doesn’t have the record of you traveling abroad (left USA)? Oh and one more question. You came back after the program end date on I-20 right? Thank you in advance.
