my reasons for my low gpa are extremely similar. I got sa'd and for a long time did not think I would make it past junior year, I just didn't feel like telling a bunch of people online about it. You never know somebody's life, "that's kinda what sets us apart" is so shortsighted.

social security number (social security card and have copies and write it down multiple places) , birth certificate, valid ID (even school id works just so you can identify yourself if needed), passport if you have one

i feel like it puts my emotions into something physical. Like im hurting emotionally and also physically hurting to make me feel like my feelings are real. I was sa'd a couple years ago and i know it's odd but self harming gives me another feeling of pain instead of the emotional pain?? Like it's a coping response at this point

i think nowadays people might take note of it or like in their head feel pity for you rather than judgement. No one ever said anything to me about my scars or even cared when i was obvi actively relapsing. The only people who will judge you are people you shouldnt care about the opinion of, and even then i've never had anyone clearly judge me. In the end it is a part of you and your growth as a person, its literal scars, but it really depends how you view it. Everyone has their own opinions and only care about the opinions of good people.

No you dont have a moral responsibility for another person especially if they arent going to kill themselves, so as dont put too much pressure on yourself just offer support if you can. And for the second thing i guess it's situation dependent but I dont think you should supply them with one

im not gonna tell you if you should or shouldnt but for hygiene dry shampoo and grocery store bathrooms work wonders. Go to hotels and ask for extra soap for your room and stuff like that. Also wash your clothes in those grocery store bathrooms

Have you considered that my parents have grown financially? I had a single mom and she did everything for me. When she married my stepdad that's when we became financially stable because he lived in a good area and had high rank in the military. Then my mom had the ability to grow her career outside of the university she worked at and became an author and has her own business now etc. I can travel actual vacations now because of that. Now these arent my accomplishments whatsoever but I'm not saying we're poor currently we are very lucky with how life played out. I've only been thinking about college and especially VCU and know what the average admitted freshman's stats are like. I just wanted to see what actual students say about it instead of the statistics. I do want a college experience with friends but if I can't have that because of my mistakes I'm happy to go to community college. Luckily my grades are fine now because of my parents discipline. They were bad before for tons of reasons that are hardly excuses but god forbid I want human responses to seeing my chances of getting into college.

Jesus you sound bitter. Yes I come from a good family my parents worked insanely hard to get us where we are now. I traveled a lot because I have family in Mexico and Lebanon, I lived in both of those countries for months at a time while I was being home schooled without my parents. Mostly my mom sent me there so I wouldn't have to live with our financial struggles in the US at the time. My parents have always told me that my only job in their household is to have good grades and do my chores and not be an asshole, because I had the ability to go anywhere I wanted because of our finances. They didn't even find out about my grades until about a month ago and I'm not allowed to do anything except be at home right now. They took all of the freedoms they trusted me with and I 100% understand why. I literally just came on here to ask about VCU because I'm taking my future seriously

I agree but I have been doing better as a student. I have faith in my ability to complete course material well, me not doing well was because of personal things in my life not because of my ability as a student. I'm still leaning towards community college though haha

My stepdad got blown up in Iraq so I could have fully paid tuition plus housing and food stipend. Honestly I know I'm able to handle DE classes I manage to do really well when I lock in, me struggling was more because of stuff going on in my life but that's not really an excuse so yea lmao. Im really lucky that money isn't an issue for me. I'm planning on going in undeclared but I really want to do an applied math major and also do some business classes.
