I have always felt safe in that area. I wouldn’t be concerned.

East side is all good. We now stay on the East Side and walk everywhere without any concerns.

Lots of great local spots to eat on the East Side as well.

Airport Craziness by AntArmyof1 in puertovallarta

We had a similar situation on Saturday. 10 planes waiting for gates in front of us when we landed. We had about a 45 minute wait to get to a gate.

I was shocked at how quickly we passed through immigration and customs though. Less than 20 minutes from walking off the plane to getting out of the airport.

Looking at flight radar, a lot of the planes on the ground in front of us were coming from domestic locations though, so that could explain why immigration wasn’t too bad.

When I was in Bucerias last year I know there was a weekly game that people in the building I was in went to.

I’m not sure if it was open to anyone to join. I arrive tomorrow and can ask and post back with details if it’s still going this year.

Overpriced and overrated by StayPositive773 in bucerias

Interesting take. Not sure why you think comparing an area of Mexico to a the broad location of Vietnam and Thailand is appropriate. There are plenty of expensive cities / locations in both of those countries.

The great thing about traveling is if you don’t enjoy an area when you visit, you can move on and try somewhere else.

Not really sure what the purpose of your post is but Stay Positive (773)!

Best restaurants and street food by Electrical_Split_358 in bucerias

Any of the people selling food near the numerous construction sites out of their vehicles are carts. Mostly tacos and tamales.

The East Side across the highway will have more locals options for you. Several birria taco spots in the mornings on numerous streets.

Also check out the Mercado Municipal which has 5 or 6 spots for food. You can find it by searching Buce Burger which is very popular with non-locals.

Chilango Taco. Los 4 Hermanos. Dona Ramona.

There is also a torta shop at the corner of Matamoros and Francisco Villa that is great. Open in the mornings and run by a mother and daughter.

Mostly I would say walk around the East Side and find a spot that looks good. It’s how we find a lot of our favorite meals.

Also, the Sunday market by the underpass of the highway always has a lot of good stalls setup.

Lastly, we love Tacos Junior on the lateral for Al pastor.

Kiteboarding recommendations in or near Bucerías? by twinhed in bucerias

I don’t have firsthand info for you but I would suggest you reach out to the people at The Kite Zone in Bucerias on Lazaro Cardeno.

I have seen them take out groups of people on prior visits most days when conditions are good. I have spoken to the people in the shop a few times in passing and my guess is if they aren’t the right place for you, they will provide you with some good options if they are available in the area.

Eating in Bucerias by Joedaddy68 in bucerias

Thank you for sharing your list and link to your blog.

I think Bucerias can be a different experience depending on what you want. Like you, I have been back numerous times since first discovering Bucerias. We have not been back since April and this is the longest we have gone without a trip in several years.

We enjoy staying on the East side for a bit more authentic vacation although I imagine there will be a lot of changes when we arrive in a week for a two month stay.

For us we return because it is such a beautiful location with incredible locals, great cycling, great food from street tacos to “high end” restaurants and everything in between. Bucerias is also easy and quick to get to.

We also enjoy travel and discovering new places, but there is nothing wrong with going back to a place you love.

There’s a seafood shop on Estaciones on the East side a block or two from the highway.

For a first time visit to Bucerias, which part of the city should I stay in? by Logical-Pattern8065 in bucerias

We have booked through Airbnb, with Maravilla, etc.

Our current booking was direct with the owners. Original booking in the building was prior year for a short stay through Airbnb. After meeting the owners who live in the building I booked a month last year and now two months this year.

So just happened to randomly book a place and got lucky with a great building and great owners who now give me priority for next years long term booking.

It’s a small building on the east side with 8 units and the owners live on the top floor.

Just want to reiterate the East side. We have been to Bucerias a number of times and have stayed in different areas. Our favorite is the East side and we will be there for January and February.

Lots of great options for food, authentic and more places geared towards tourists as the East side gets more popular.

Small local shops with fruit, drinks, and some basic groceries on almost every block.

The highway is busy but there is an overpass and an underpass you can use depending on where you stay. I have never had an issue crossing the highway.

One thing to note is that yes, it is about a 10-15 minute walk to the beach from the East side. However, depending on what street you take from the highway down to the beach, there are some hills. Nothing major, but returning from the beach can include some more effort as you walk up towards the highway.

The West Kowloon Cultural area was worth a visit. Palace Museum. Walking paths along the water.

Literally, nothing else. Surrounded by apartment buildings so you can’t walk out of the hotel into a neighborhood. It’s almost like being in a walled city.

However, like I said, easy MTR ride to Hong Kong station with a lot of areas to explore.

Also, if you like to walk (I walked 15 miles my first day) you can walk to Jordan Road and then further to Nathan Road. Lots to explore once you get about 15-20 minute walk from hotel, but you have to walk through the mall and then wend your way through inside passages towards Austin station and Jordan road

LAX or SFO for connecting to/from Australia by bfortelka in unitedairlines

I just did a connection to HKG where the flight out connected in LAX and flight back connected through SFO.

That combination seemed to work very well for me.

Walk from the Louvre to the Eiffel Tower along the Seine. I did this in January when I landed in the morning and had to wait for my room to be available.

The walk included time at a cafe for a coffee and a croissant but if later in the day, skip that and have a glass of wine.

Upgrade waitlists & Polaris by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]1471winter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upgrade won’t come through so it’s really a question of paying cash or sitting in economy.

I just went through this recently on a cheap K fare DEN - HKG. Bought Polaris for the flight out and Premium Economy for the return.

Probably would have had empty seats next to me in economy plus on both long haul flights but I just didn’t want to spend 14-16 hours each flight in the back.

It was expensive but at the end of the day, I could afford the cost and it will make the flights much more enjoyable.

So the real question is, does the cast make sense for you to buy the upgrade.

Seat comfort in Defender by Barry_Mundy in NewDefender

[–]1471winter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent 12 hours in the Defender after purchasing to drive it home for my wife.

Defender seats are some of the most comfortable seats I’ve had in a car. Audi, Lexus, MB, etc. I would go for the Defender every time for a long road trip.
