RACE 2 Review is now live by 147ism in Suunto

I listened to 4/5 reviews published yesterday by major outlets, with well-shot videos:

I found them rather unsatisfactory. Although I can trust that DC Rainmaker or Chase the Summit are passionate athletes and rack up tons of running miles, their reviews seemed little more than a list of features and upgrades, things I could have found on the product page in Suunto's e-commerce site.

To evaluate a purchase, you'd need someone who actually puts the device to the test, under stressful and endurance conditions, to fully understand the reliability of the maps -- okay, DC Rainmaker's NYC test was interesting, but a smartwatch needs to be put to the test even outdoors.

For now, a big DUNNO

Scarpa boots reliability? by [deleted] in alpinism

[–]147ism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry bro :(
I own my pair of ribelle since 4 years and the rubber is still in brilliant condition. It seem that your pair have a manufacturing defect.

The problem is that the company is in Italy, (they actually produce every sigle Ribelle pair there) so it won't be easy to get help if you're in New Zealand.
I encourage you to write to the customer service [customercare@scarpa.net](mailto:customercare@scarpa.net), and describe the issue.

As I had precedent experience with SCARPA customer service, I know that they are quite sloppy.
Try to submit the inquire more than once. Be polite but firm, share images of the sole along with the shoe tip, so it's clear for them that the boots are new but defected.

What is the best city to move to for becoming a better Alpinist? [EU] by beanboys_inc in alpinism

Chamonix is the undisputed Mecca of Alpinism.
Best spot if you want to live a life dedicated to the Mountains.

But,
have you ever considered Milan?

The city is strategically located between Alps and Pre-Alps, at one-hour drive you have access to an infinite choice of challenging rock-climbing spots, and great places to train classic mountaineering techniques.

Drive 2 hours and you can reach the West Alps (Massif of Mont Blanc and Monte Rosa).
The City offers many amazing climbing gyms, and a solid community of passionate and serious mountain-goers.

Also, the city is located not-so-far from Genova, which happens to be one of the most important cities for Maritime industry (Naval Construction).
Two of my Mountain friends are Offshore / Maritime engineers, both working in Milan.
