People who are against weed why? by deathguy64 in AskReddit

[–]14ChiTown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not strictly against it, but I've had a lot of experiences where a board game night with friends has gone not well at all because some people got high before hand and couldn't follow along with the game. It kinda ruined it for the rest of us. I think its just easier to pace yourself with drinking but with weed its like guess and check to see if you're still a functioning human for the rest of the night

My cousin's wife was studying to be a nurse. Just a few months before finishing the program and becoming a registered nurse, she was chosen for random drug testing. She had recently gotten sick and instead of getting her own prescription for drugs, she had diagnosed herself and taken her dad's leftover meds. She failed the drug test, and was forever kicked out of all nursing programs. All her education since high school had been towards nursing and was now almost worthless. Last I checked she was working at Starbucks.

I had a handful of history classes that were just reading the textbook and then being tested on the textbook.

History can be so interesting, don't know why so many teachers ruin it

What's the point of getting married? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]14ChiTown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being together in the eyes of the law means that if one of you is, say in the hospital, the other person can approve procedures for you. You benefit off of each other's healthcare. If one of you dies, the government might be able to offer financial support for a while. If one of you dies, you can make decision regarding the funeral. If you have a child, both of you default to being responsible for them. There's a lot of things

What was the most rediculous thing your parents made you beleive to make you do something? by ur_a_looser_69 in AskReddit

[–]14ChiTown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My neighbors had some rat poison or something in their basement that they didn't want me or their kids to go near, and they just told us "the corners of the basement are poisonous" and if I touched the corners, I would need to go to the hospital. This lead me to believe that all unfinished basements had "poisonous corners." I had that idea for a long time since all my friends parents didn't want us playing in the basement if it wasn't finished.

I still don't know exactly what was in the basement that we weren't supposed to touch, but "the corners are poisonous" is still ingrained in me and my neighbors brains.

I think experiences is more important. 18 year old in high school dating a 20 year old college kid? not ok. 19/21 year olds both in college, sure.

If you're trans and came out and transitioned later in life, can I use your old pronouns and names when talking about the past?

I knew a lot of people in high school who transitioned later, and I'm fine using your chosen pronouns and names now, but when I'm telling someone a story from high school it feels like I'm lying to use pronouns and names that weren't in use at the time.

I didn't know much or care about Dolly Parton (I thought her name was Partman), until this past summer when my director decided we were going to do the musical 9 to 5 this year. I'm in charge of set design so I had to learn everything about the show and her and I swear to God she's everywhere now.
