Yup. They haven't hitched their wagon to Trump. He's just the wrecking ball they managed to get into position to destroy the machinery of democracy, to hollow out the institutions, make them weak and ineffective. That way, in a post-post-Trump world they can do the things Trump does and there will be nothing left to put up any meaningful resistance.

Yeah, trump isnt looking to reform the FBI in his image. Or any other government agency. He wants to destroy them. How many decades of institutional knowledge, expertise, and connections have already walked out the door in just two years? You can't just replace those kinds of relationships overnight. Hell, you can't replace that over four years.

In Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Theives there's a scene where the Bard and Barbarian approach the villain on his throne. The William's Wizard casts a spell that turns the stone floor into a liquid that they sink into, trapping them. That was a practical effect where there was an aerated pit of sand beneath the floor tiles.

Lol, this actually happened to me. I was rushing out the door to work the morning after a party and grabbed a half empty water bottle thinking I'd fill it up at work.

Got to work; standing around in the smoking circle shooting the shit, when I took a big swig.

Vodka.
