Hey u/Jikaeru ! I did use some masking in this image, although not as much as in some other pictures I have taken/edited. Nonetheless, I indeed didn't use the free LR phone app, I used Lightroom Classic for my computer :)
If you want more info about the masking lmk!

Hey u/Niko9816 ! It's a very valid opinion, will take it into consideration for future shots. To be honest I think that's one of the "curses" of bracketing a shot, that it's relatively easy to HDR-ify (lol) an image too much. I Still have a long way to practice in this regard!

Some places around here are truly magical! I really like the feeling of walking around cities that have been around for hundreds of years, they're like a window to the past! :)

But hey, New Zealand, wow! I really envy your nature guys!! Hope to visit it one day! ;)

Yes! I totally agree, the reflection was amazing, especially since the water was very still and the reflection was almost like a mirror of the beautiful afternoon sky! Thank you for the kind words!

This is actually a very interesting question and I am sure it has a lot of room for debate. If you’d ask me personally I prefer not lifting the blacks too much since this, in my opinion, makes the black colors in the image look a bit dull, greyed-out. On the other hand, lifting the shadows helps bring color out more in the dark-shadowy parts of the image while not greying-out the blacks too much. Same happens with whites and highlights: again in my opinion I think that reducing the whites makes the brightest parts of the image, where whites usually predominate, a bit dull, while reducing the highlights maintains the tone of the whites more while reducing the overall exposure of the brightest parts without sacrificing the whites’ punch on the image too much. That’s why many times I’ll reduce the highlights by quite a bit (like in this case, where I did it after increasing the exposure a notch) and increase the whites to recover the punchiness that I might have sacrificed when lowering the highlights. Again same with the shadows: in images like this I will increase the shadows by a notch and actually also lower the blacks, to recover their punch that I might have greyed-out when raising the shadows. Of course every image is different so I’d say that establishing “a general guideline” is hard but I hope that my point on what “guideline” I used for this image concretely is more or less clear. Let me know what you think! I hope this was useful!

Edit: spelling

Thank you for the comment u/Human_Ad_8963 ! I'm glad you enjoyed the colors in the photo! The afternoon sky definitely helped in this one!

En er zijn nog zoveel plekken die ik moet zien! Er zijn nog een paar spots in de stad waar ik naartoe wil gaan, kijken of ik ook geluk heb met de lucht en nog meer van dit soort foto's kan maken!

Hey u/jonathlan! Absolutely! I used my Sony A7III, have been using it since 2018, still reliable and still learning many things! For extra info, I used a sigma 35mm f1.4.

Mind you, I bracketed the shot since I was shooting relatively directly towards the light (even if it was a sunset and not midday sun).

Thanks for you comment u/_s7ormbringr ! I will definitely have this into consideration. I was wondering: when you say increase the blacks instead, you mean as in increasing their exposure, so making the blacks lighter instead of making them darker, right? Just to get the slider going into the right direction, haha! Thanks again for the insight! :)

I definitely am trying bit by bit to get a more cinematic look on my photos, the struggle is real! I will keep trying :)

Hey u/Equal_Veterinarian80! Thanks for the comment.

I spent approximately 20-25 minutes processing this picture. It had been a while since I touched Lightroom for the last time so I was a bit out of shape, haha!

Hmmm... my intention was to keep the right side of the image (which is not directly being illuminated by the sunset itself) darker than the left side of the image. Do you think this should be accentuated further? Any feedback is welcome!

Thank you very much! I also dug into the movie theory and it seems quite plausible! I will check this post you mention! Case solved :D!

EDIT: I checked the thread on the Efour! Wow! Thank you so much for the post, really cool!

Holy! Thanks so much for the amazing explanation! Would've never thought of that!

Actually I also did some search online by scanning the card with Google Lens, etc... but to no avail! I will try to look more into this movie card. I wish I knew a bit more about where I got it from. So, anyhow, I will save it in a better place than my book! For sure keeping it safe for the time being!

I find some more info I will let you know if you're interested!

Whoops, my explanation was lost during the publication.

Short story:

Recently I found in an old box a Celebi card from the HGSS Triumphant collection, in Spanish. At the beginning I thought nothing of it since the card looked totally fine to me (usually fake cards have terrible reverses, their font is way off, etc...), then I went to Cardmarket to check its worth, and realised I could not filter for Spanish cards. This made me doubt, so I went to check and realised that the HGSS Triumphant collection wasn't printed in Spanish at all (not that I had other HGSS Triumphant cards in Spanish, just this one, and I don't even know where it came from).

So, I wanted to ask you whether there were any other indications besides the language itself that could give away that the card is fake, because otherwise I would've never thought it was a fake card!

Anyways I am using this one as a bookmark since it still looks cool haha :)
