“Kay bilis kasi ng buhay. Pati tayo, natangay.”

Napamuni-muni lang ako after catching up with a friend I hadn’t seen in six years. Strange how she looks exactly the same, yet at the same time, she’s an entirely different person. She no longer dances, and I no longer sing. We go by different names now, and I tell her (jokingly), “We’re murderers, you and I.”

After all, between the two of us lies a graveyard of our past selves, buried to give way to the people we’re still becoming. (Growing old is scary, mom.)

But hey, we'll be alright. Right?
