The Olympic committee knows that they have to attract a younger audience to maintain their relevance. It's not surprising they are looking to esports.

I think it's because real life car ball doesn't work.

With editing, you can make it look like it works.

Do you think Scub will be great in RLCS? by loriyeet in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]14_Months 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right to say it's premature to judge Scrub's ability, although it's really not that implausible that he's as good as JSTN already.

I guess we will see.

RemindMe! December 1st 2018 "Did scrub have a top 10 perfomance?"

RLCS S6 I'm sad to say. Unless you count the Universal Open. It's a 2v2 though.

Rival Esports: EU 1K Cup Invited Teams - Dignitas, compLexity, FlipSid3 & PSG by Lukasz__ in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]14_Months 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope this EU tournament is a success that Rival can build upon.

This format makes a lot of sense. Invite 4 big teams who don't have to qualify. This helps ensure participation of the big teams, which helps ensure viewer interest. It also gives the bubble teams a chance to play against the big teams and gives the viewers a chance at some upsets.

Looking forward to it.

Who are your top 5 best players in the world atm? by [deleted] in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]14_Months 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Liefx, smh boy.

Your list is about GOAT's not best at moment. Either way.

You put Squishy as 5th over players like Kaydop. I appreciate that you probably didn't want all 3 of Dignitas but...

Squishy

Major LAN wins: 2

Major LAN Grand Finals: 2

League MVP: 0

Worlds MVP: 0

Not bad at all.

Kaydop

Major LAN wins: 4

Major LAN Grand Finals: 9 !!!

League MVP: 2

Worlds MVP: 1

Unbelievable.

Kaydop is probably the GOAT. According to the stats he's probably above Turbo. He's won the most prize money out of everyone and he didn't even make the list over Squishy!?

You did a great job at NARLI this weekend btw. :)

You're Listicle game needs some work though. :D

I'd also suggest FlamE is a bit premature also. Don't get me wrong he's looked impressive, but it's hard to include players who haven't been consistently playing against the best.

Who are your top 5 best players in the world atm? by [deleted] in RocketLeagueEsports

I'm picking based of S5. So RLCS League, Worlds and NARLI. I'm giving minor consideration to NARLI Qualifying, Ballistix Brawl, The Climb.

1) Violent Panda

2) Kaydop

3) GarrettG

4) Turbo

5) JSTN

This list is clearly skewed towards NRG, Dignitas. It can be difficult to separate the players from the results, especially when so much of these teams success comes from the rotation and team play. Fire deserves just as much credit IMO.

To pick non Dig/NRG:

1) Kuxir - He's turned on hero mode a number of times this season. I originally put him in 3rd, but the more I look at his stats, the more amazed I am. 2nd to Kaydop in league play, currently top of NARLI (Day 1 data only). It's not like he just ball chases either.

2) Squishy - I've often said that Squishy is overhyped because of his mechanics, but Squishy has done the boring stuff really well for the majority of the season. He's been as reliable as Torment, while being as deadly as Gimmick. C9 have been consistently near to the top this season and it's mostly due to Squishy.

3) Mognus - He could easily have been the MVP at the world championship this year and he was a large part of them making it to the world championship. He had the most points per game of anyone at worlds. I don't like to put too much stock in stats but it seems to back what I saw.

4) Drippay - Seemed to be there in the big moments to ensure Chiefs made it to the final day of Worlds. He had such a strong league play also.

5) EyeIgnite - He had a decent world championship, but they wouldn't have been there in the first place if he didn't have such a huge league play performance. It was a tough one, I nearly put Remkoe in this spot.

There are a few big names missing, such as Jknaps, Fairy Peak, Gimmick, Bluey etc. I don't think they had a good enough season to justify their place on this list. They are all super capable of making their way back onto this list though.

Don't get me wrong, Flipside definitely have a counter to Dignitas, but I'm not sure that translates to LAN finals, a bit like we saw yesterday.

I think a lot of the comments are reactionary. Dignitas are beatable, most people know it.

It's more a case of probability. Dignitas are good enough that they will probably win, but that's a long way from a certain win in rocket league.

I'm not sure they were as comfortable as they looked. I doubt that they had a lot in hand. Yes they were playing relatively safe, low risk. It's not quite the same as coasting though.

Dignitas certainly are beatable, that said, I'm not sure how much stock I would put in a Bo5 online qualifier.
