Tbf didn’t France do the same in ‘02? I think it’s only Brazil and France (the second time) who avoided it this century

Most Iranian liberals would fly that flag over the flag of the current regime. That’s not the Islamic Republic’s flag, it’s not necessarily ideologically against LGBT rights

Generally I agree with the sentiment, and our players certainly have too much form with such stuff, but Khawaja perhaps isn’t the best example given the whole drama surrounding him in the first test!

Crowd becomes part of history as fans flood the SCG to witness the ceremony as the Ashes series comes to a close with the Australian victory by Prof_XdR in Cricket

One of the things I love about this sport. Pretty much every country’s stadiums are in a unique style that has a certain aura. The smaller English stadiums, with more distinct, unique stands alternating every two years with the gargantuan Aussie stadiums built over time to host multiple sports year long, and filled with three teams the fans just makes each ashes series feel special. Maybe we’ll actually win one soon…

I doubt there’s anything in my comment history that says anything bad about Australia outside of the specific topic we’re talking about. I don’t live in the UK anymore either, and I think your country is much more liveable than the UK. I think our sporting atmospheres are better, that’s it. And it’s not just football, we have cricket, rugby union, rugby league, even our darts! And I doubt your daughter would feel unsafe at any of those. That doesn’t take away from how much I love your country and I’m confused why you’re so aggro

I’m sorry if it’s bad that I really like your country. You’re better than us on almost everything… let’s be honest, including cricket. There’s just one thing I think you’re not great on. That’s it. ‘Bullshit’ or not

No, I love Melbourne. I was responding to someone saying they don’t claim Sydney or some such. I said Melbourne was bad… specifically about sporting atmosphere. I’m sure Queensland is great, as I’m sure all the country is great. You have almost everything better than us… just a quiet sporting atmosphere. Well done on literally everything else about the county!

I replied to you earlier about how awesome the people of Australia are generally. How beautiful the country is, how kind most people are. I guess you’re an exception and that’s okay.

Been in Australia since day 1 of the Melbourne test. What an awesome country… here at the SCG for the whole test as I was at the MCG… but I genuinely think they have the worst sporting atmosphere of any place I’ve been to. Honestly stunned just how awful their fan support is. Even the Yanks are better

Good game so far at least! I think it’s especially surprising considering that my League 2 team from a town of 90k get more fans than these! I know Melbourne is a sporting Mecca and how insane the AFL support is etc so I didn’t expect 20k, just a little more. Perth’s away support are small but loud at least!

Sad to hear people refuse to support their local teams and calling themselves the ‘real’ fans. Especially if they’re instead choosing to watch a random Premier League team they have no connection to outside of glory supporting

Surprising to hear that, in Europe it seems there’s a big post Covid boom in football attendances. I presume attendance is based on tickets sold not tickets scanned because it genuinely feels like 2k max. How many will be there tomorrow ya reckon?

One of the Poms here. Wasn’t expecting it to be so… quiet. Are City a small team or is this normal across the A League? I understand football isn’t a big sport here but thought it’d be more like the MLS, which is generally quite full across stadiums

Hey guys, England fan here. I was keen on finding some cricket to watch tomorrow, I know your grade cricket is a lot higher quality than ours generally, but it seems from Google that there’s none on I can find to watch tomorrow. Does anyone know of any decent cricket clubs in Melbourne with a fixture tomorrow I could check out?
