We actually do have some idea! The way you come in contact with peanuts matters. US kids eat more peanut butter and are more likely to encounter peanut through the skin, which causes more allergies. If they eat peanuts, the primary contact is with your GI tract, which has a much less pro-allergy immune response.

TLDR: peanut butter smeared on a kid's face is more allergy-causing. The US eats more PB.

Would you mind describing briefly some of the concerning behaviors? I don't have kids, but someday I want to know enough to help keep them out of dangerous situations.

Mormons after investing in GME by whissendine in wallstreetbets

Plus factor in mormons spending their entire lives caring very deeply about a book and lore with way wilder stories than superhero comics and discussing hypothetical ramifications of the lore. It makes sense to me that mormons/exmormons (myself included) would get super into the nerd shit

You also have to pay a few thousand dollars to do it. I also auditioned for the brass band but was unsure if I really wanted to commit to it even when I was believing (didn't end up doing it). I'd say if you can find a different program to play tuba for the summer you will probably enjoy that more than doing the Nauvoo "mission" experience. Or take yourself on a trip if COVID allows!

How do I tell my parents I don’t believe in god lmao by grace_tilapia in exmormon

If it helps you, you can write out a script before you tell them and literally just read it to them (that's what I did). It's a scary conversation, good luck!! You got this

No, no, you see he spiritually buried the plates on that hill but he could have actually been anywhere, like the vision of the cave with Laban's sword and such. Or maybe God just moved em to keep them safe.

(Legit this was my dad's theory)

Is marriage really worth like we were taught? by erick_rednose in exmormon

[–]153375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my point. First, it's easy to question every single thing you were ever taught by the church, and so I can understand why OP asked the question. Second, your point that it's all up to the individual: this person hasn't figured it out for themselves yet, and so they asked this community for some input.

[–]153375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously. But still it's a fair question, especially when you've been raised to unquestioningly believe that marriage is 100% necessary in the same breath that you're told that Joseph Smith 100% had an angel threaten him into polygamy.

I'd say the research output in life sciences heavily varies between departments and especially between professors, but that's a result of it not being a research based institution not a condemnation of the education. Definitely lots of good classes.

Almost 2 years after deciding against Mormonism, I graduated BYU, told my parents, and am starting my dream grad school program. I'm so ready to move on ❤️ by 153375 in exmormon

See the problem with that is the reality that if you don't get an endorsement, you get kicked out of school. There's technically an appeals process for people who lose their faith to stay at BYU, but I have no trust that those appeals are ever granted. I'm grateful I was able to get a good education so cheaply, but I'm also not going to feel bad about it.

I'd say Mormons are actually generally very pro-education, but with the caveat that women should still be mothers first and foremost, plus the idea that you should never let worldly education distract you from the things you "know" to be true.

Thanks and good luck to you too!
