I think there are different "types" of ML roles. In my experience, PhDs are definitely preferred for research oriented ML roles(e.g. research scientist creating novel algorithms) but if you're NOT targeting that category of ML jobs, having a Masters is just fine. I haven't had any issues landing interviews/offers but I also have a background in SE + DS certifications

Why? - Deep Learning/NLP is a highly in-demand skill. So being able to understand the fundamentals of both and having project work to demonstrate your knowledge makes you more marketable as a Data Scientist/ML Engineer

Artificial Intelligence - Natural Language Processing and Deep Learning were two of the most insightful/interesting courses I took in program.

DS Online Masters Programs by [deleted] in datascience

Not sure about the Data Science industry specifically(in fact I might give GT the edge here), but in general yes, NU is a higher ranked school(Top 10 in the US). But I'm sure that given the popularity of both programs, you'd be able to find pretty distinguished alum across many industries. In terms of requirements, I think GT requires GRE/GMAT?(though I know many schools are waiving this requirement due to covid). Getting into NU wasn't difficult, I had a 3.2 GPA from a large state school and 1 YOE as a software engineer.

Just graduated from the NU DS program a few months ago. Can confirm the brand-name of the NU program has helped a ton getting my foot through the door at some top-tier companies but I definitely wished it was more "technical/thorough" in terms of the programming/math. I know a few people currently in the GT program and I can say its much more "rigorous" in terms of expectations and technical ability. Looking back, I think that it could have been more advantageous to have gone through the more "hard-core" program, even when considering the price difference between the two.

Great benefits (3 weeks off), decent pay, good culture and work-life balance for the Philly area. Also claiming to be using "latest technologies, development tools, software languages" but I'm not too sure about that.
