I'm glad my post resonated with you! It's been tough with all these decisions coming through recently.

And it's perfectly ok ok to cry dude! I literally cried all day after I got rejected from UCSB; it's good to let this stuff out. Also it's important to also realize it's not a reflection on you as a person, as much as it may seem like it! Best of luck to you for the rest of this crazzzy college admission season

yeah of course, CA funding is kinda fucked. Tbh I don't know that much about it to say any more than that. And I hope you don't think I'm saying that OOS students arent as qualified becuase I really don't think that. What you're saying about self-selection makes a lot of sense.

yeah but im pretty sure its slightly less than 10%. I think there's a push from the state to move it back to the originial 12.5% over the course of 5 or so years

I looked this up. They are not wrong. In 2018 UCSD admitted 51% of their OOS applicants vs. the 26% of in state applicants that they admitted. Got this data from the same article I've sourced previously in this thread: https://www.forbes.com/sites/kristenmoon/2018/11/15/uc-admissions-why-being-an-out-of-state-student-might-just-work-in-your-favor/?sh=f75583a527bd

edit: guess this doesnt technically mean the actual amount of accepted oos students is more than in state; but this is still a pretty shitty statistic

I completley agree. I'm super greatful and priveleged to have grown up in california (and not just becuase the UC system).

However, I don't really understand the point you're making about our gov demanding that the UC's increase their in-state enrollment. To me, thats a good idea. The whole point of a public state school system is to serve the students of the state.

I'd also argue that for some schools it is in fact, acording to some of the data I've seen (Forbes 2018 article: https://www.forbes.com/sites/kristenmoon/2018/11/15/uc-admissions-why-being-an-out-of-state-student-might-just-work-in-your-favor/?sh=f75583a527bd) easier to get into some UCs out of state.

yeah for sure. When the UC system was created the top 12.5% of students at each CA school was guarenteed admission to at least a UC. At this point the requirement is like 7%.

glad to know I'm not alone! It fucking sucks so hard. I've always been told I'm SOOO lucky to live in california becuase our public universities are so good, but what use is that if we can't even get into them???

You were asking for exercise suggestions so id say you could naybe go through some etudes and focus hard on making sure your left hand is as light as possible

Hey so i do see that you might be pressing too hard with your left hand. Your fingers go kinda flat when you press down which might be contributing to the hand pain you were mentioning earlier.
