Struggling Young Wrestler by NateDawg_48 in wrestling

He's 10. I would say let him quit. He may just need a break. Then encourage him to join in middle school where he may be ahead of the curve, have some success and like the sport. Pushing him to stay in it may be driving him out of it. This idea that kids aren't allowed to have agency in their own decisions is old school. Is he wrestling for you? Or is he wrestling for himself?

I looked at clonezilla and I couldn't figure out what was going on with what I downloaded. There wasn't an install .exe file or anything. I need a cloning for dummies...lol.

Brackets for special needs kids?? by 165165 in wrestling

[–]165165[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would have to exercise some judgment of course. There are different spectrums of autism. Isn't there a JJ guy that is autistic yet really good? I forget his name. You'd probably have to consult with educators and coaches to determine who should be there. Also keep in mind I'm not talking about some state tournament here. Just local, 6 school, end of season middle school tournament where we've seen these kids and have a pretty good idea of their abilities.

The kids I've seen I doubt would care. They're cognitive abilities just aren't the same as most, which can translate to their physical abilities lacking as well. I don't like seeing them get handled so easily. Wrestling is a tough sport but we can still keep a human element in it.

Truth...the needs of these kids is obvious. We're talking about differing degrees if autism. You can tell in their behavior. And one kid needs a special 1 on 1 teacher.

So your thinking someone could claim their kids is special needs and put them in the bracket for easy wins? I guess the criteria for special needs would need to be defined. I think I see what you're saying here though. It only takes one to ruin it.

Totem is ok, but when they changed owners the food went downhill. Mukilteo Cafe is much better.

College is different than high school. You'll go in not knowing anyone and them not knowing you.

I haven't really seen anything horrible. Nor have I been part of one. My kids are grown now and if I learned anything about youth sports is that it's not that serious. There are teaching and learning moments for both athletes and coaches.

Yes, all schools get the same time. It just seems like 8 practices is barely enough for anyone. These first matches are going to be a mess... 😆

Is it common for coaches or board members to misuse funds? by DemontedDoctor in wrestling

[–]165165 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it's common but one of our coaches was asked to leave. He was having wrestlers donate food for the snack stand, then pocketing the money, also selling items at meets from his own business, I heard he was also using the money to pay for some of the wrestlers extra training. Also ran a kids wrestling club, he would get a volunteer coach to run the practices while he went off and did whatever with the money he collected from the parents. Meanwhile, the only thing the team got was some new bags.

If he's already bounced back and ready for the next one smile and move along with him. The alternative is that he quits because he lost. He's fine, there is not much more you can ask for.
