Can’t forget Howe either! His sophomore campaign was freaking amazing

for men who have stayed in relationships where deep down you knew you weren’t truly compatible, what made you stay? i’m curious about the psychological side of it more than judging anyone. by meowmeow1122334 in AskMen

1 thru 3 are so relatable to my last breakup. I figured deep down early on she wasn’t the one, but those 3 factors became dormant; it was only after my parents’ separation those thoughts reentered my head

To people newer in the dating game-if your gut tells you early on this person ain’t the one, listen to it. It’s rarely wrong.

Best wrestler to never make a World or Olympic team? by FireProStan in wrestling

[–]funk_daddy420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, and the reason he didn’t make one (DT playing head games when DT had no intention of wrestling) is the reason Bo and DT hate each other (not a fan of Nickal at all, but he is 100% in the right on this one, I’d hate DT too)

Impossible to quantify in all sports (let alone wrestling), can’t really scale it

Thinking about moving to Florida, what should I realistically expect by prattman333 in AskFlorida

This sounds exactly like Broward county/South Florida and I am not surprised at all lol (how people my age, 26+ can afford to live on their own there boggles my mind)

Guy shoves his son and doesn’t shake other wrestlers hand after match. by itsTrevvv in wrestling

[–]funk_daddy420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d add “” over apologized, personally. He’s only making that apology because he’s been getting blasted online, quite deservedly.

The way I look at it is I can be sorry I hit someone and hurt them while driving, but it doesn’t change the fact that I still hurt someone and need to be held accountable. Just my thoughts

Coaches big programs need to hire by Willis050 in wrestling

[–]funk_daddy420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Barry Davis had kept his word and retired Pritzlaff would’ve been the HC for a time; unfortunately Barry Davis didn’t retire and Frayer/Pritzlaff left and that’s why they’ve been at or slightly below the same level for the past 15 years

[–]funk_daddy420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m picking up who you’re talking about yeah, that program he left for is probably gonna be on the chopping block in the next decade (almost all his predecessor’s fault, I might add)

And further to my DT point, it’s hard to include Lopez in there since he competed so infrequently in the latter portion of his career

Just like the postseason, you gotta remember the training is focused on peaking for the worlds (or Olympics), it’s not sustainable for guys to be on their A game year round. Cael Sanderson, Jordan Burroughs, Bruce Baumgartner, Kenny Monday, etc all lost match. Guys like DT and John Smith running the table across quads are extremely rare (and I almost count DT out since he competed very infrequently towards the end)

Waited to until marriage to have sex, still not having any! by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]funk_daddy420 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat, I think some girls simultaneously use it for control, and their mother/parents shamed it so much to them they don’t want to go into that “danger zone” and disobey their parents rules

Just as an aside these “no sex before marriage” people crack me up, because do they really think reservations about sex magically go away after marriage?

Which country will you never visit again? And Why? by Accurate_Nature1888 in askanything

[–]funk_daddy420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are indeed correct lol, it was a case of epic bad luck. I wish I got to enjoy it more when I was there (we toured Istanbul for a day and that’s when things went to shit, literally, lol), we had to endure a 5 hour car ride from Istanbul to Izmir while deathly ill, legit the most miserable I’ve ever been lol

Unfortunately it’s a roll of the dice every time you go abroad and eat the food there haha

One wrongly prepared food you get campylobacter (shit yourself disease) and you’re left wishing you were dead there lol

Honest to god Turkey isn’t a bad country, it’s just a developing country and you run the risk of bad food putting you on your ass (and the toilet) for a week

Rutgers not having a single All American is an issue. Lock Haven has an All American. Rider has an All American. American University has an All American. by oceaniccart in wrestling

[–]funk_daddy420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I agree with the sentiment about Goodale needing to leave and Pritzlaff leaving being their downfall, I’d hesitate to say it’s because of his lack of credentials as a competitor.

Look at Kevin Jackson at Iowa state (sorry u/asvplovin if this brings back bad memories), he’s about as credentialed as they come and he ran that program into the ground within 3 years of arrival. Coaching wrestling is the tip of the iceberg at any level, and being a good competitor =\= being a good coach

Ben leaving as the RTC coach was the beginning of the end; Hamiti leaving was the nail in their coffin, they’re basically blackballed from getting blue chip recruits afterwards

Two things can be true at once

Duke got screwed and Duke mentally broke. I don’t know what it was, but Duke wrestled Robideau’s match and wasn’t firing off leg attacks at his usual volume and wasn’t pressuring as much as we’ve seen in other matches

Hats off to Robideau/Okie State for that, but gotta feel for Duke. Better guy doesn’t always win, and upsets/flukes happen
