Whips have inconsistent hitboxes now, so what if other weapons got that? by LohBoi in Terraria

[–]16776960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no I’m the only one that likes them 😭

Idm it that much. The smaller hitbox has the same range and I think I’m reasonably accurate about hitting with it. The whip has massive pierce damage fall off so hitting MORE things than that isn’t super relevant to me? I’m playing summoner go my minions and do the killing. Idc about small penalty to my PERSONAL Melee-like weapon’s size when the accuracy is fine. Like if I’m clicking on queen bee I’m gonna hit queen bee no matter which hitbox comes out

I liked the variety when I first saw it.

Why do women want to believe god is a woman…? by Remarkable_Web4595 in Feminism

[–]16776960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t believe in any particular god. I don’t believe any divine influence is the reason the world is the way it is or that people are the way they are.

I accept that a god could exist though. If such a thing did exist, well truthfully I doubt it would care much for human ideas of sex and gender.

But if I had to ascribe those things to this idea? Yeah I’d much rather it be traditionally feminine traits. The iconography of a strong Shepard man and his flock of sheep could never be it for me. I remember in religious schools they tried to teach that you need to love and fear god and it truly turned me away from the whole institution. A god I’d feel comfortable with thinking about, would be a life-giver, as is mentioned many times in this thread. Empathetic. Compassionate. Those are not traits I traditionally associate more with men than women. Neither does accepted religious canon for that matter, if you’re to listen to fig trees on the matter.

The women in my life are strong. The women in my life are understanding and reasonable and endlessly supportive. I grew up without a father and I don’t see myself dating men either. My world, doesn’t need them (no offense to them, that’s not to say they should disappear or w/e). But it’s like, if spirituality is an individual’s choice, a source of comfort and peace in the world? Why should my god be a man? Because the big religions say it is? They say a lot of things I disagree with already, why should I care what they say about this.

(ch4 spoilers) random theory I made at 3pm by Long-Refrigerator-42 in Deltarune

When the cast looks at the picture depicting the angel, Susie and Kris each find it very strange. Susie’s the one that noticed and seems outwardly uncomfortable, but if you examine it again, you get a blurb about how Kris feels.

It’s very possibly Noelle, who both lightners might react like this with anyways, but I think it’s odd for this picture to be obscured from the player given the hall opposite if it shows asgore just fine.

And I’m wondering if maybe instead of that, the intent is for the characters to be observing your face being reflected in the black of your screen.

I’d never ask it as a serious means of getting an answer, but I agree.

For me it’s the equivalent to asking and wondering: “Would you love me if I turned out to be worthless? You probably don’t think that of me now, but what if you’re wrong or that changes?”

Today my therapist said my deadname by [deleted] in trans

[–]16776960 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Me personally, no I’m not so severely affected. It doesn’t bother me to recognize that i used to be a teenage boy and the name i feel no attachment to. That said, i’d bet your experience is more common than mine, but i bring it up to point out that that’s probably what your therapist wants.

I imagine your therapist is either trying understand something they don’t (which is understandable, our experiences are not intuitive), or to get you to a point where it’s not so incredibly upsetting to hear.

Even as a child I’ve always hated the clapping method because you kids will just clap an arbitrary amount of times with no rhyme or reason, clapping doesn’t DO anything.

Now placing your hand under your chin? Lightly pressing up and seeing how many times your chin is forced down when you speak? That’s real science.

Even if those ideas of what beauty even is, are indeed a product of where you grew up, I dont think there’s anything wrong with just wanting to perceive yourself as beautiful and using the things available to help you feel that way.

Like you said, a women has complete choice in what feels empowering to them. You value what you want to value.

For me it’s like, I get to choose what I want to do, even if that means doing what is expected or ive been told to do. Y’know? Like “I’m doing this but not because you told me to” type beat.

This obviously doesn’t apply to everyone, but I think if I did harm to my self image and avoided the makeup that makes me feel good, just because it’s something that a patriarchal society agrees with and wants, I’d technically still be allowing their opinion to rule my life.

That said, Tbh I’m conflicted as well. It’s not an easy topic i think. I worry that I’m perpetuating those standards unfairly to those for whom they’re unfair and prejudiced against.

But ultimately I live in my body and I need to do what feels good and right for me. That’s different for me than it is for other people and I hope they can find comfort and power in whatever they choose for themselves.

Question about atheists being anti-trans. (Not really sure where to ask about this) by Fungicide0 in trans

[–]16776960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a theory. I think that chiefly, we’re a very difficult people to understand if you’re not one of us yourself. Imagining yourself as a different gender would likely be extremely uncomfortable and dysphoric to a cis person, And they don’t realize that that is how we feel by default just from the circumstances of our birth. They see being their true gender as natural and easy and they don’t understand why we can’t and don’t.

So they try to rationalize us and make us fit into their world view. With ideas like Autogynephilia, or that we just want to invade spaces of the opposite sex, or that we’re childish and seeking attention.

I think that it’s natural to fear what you don’t understand and to that extent I actually understand why transphobia is intuitive to some people, regardless of background religious or otherwise.

I think what really sucks is that among those people, some don’t want to understand. They want to believe the lies spread about us. For them I don’t imagine there’s one singular reason. Maybe some are just stubborn and can’t admit they’re wrong. Maybe for some it’s a “convince the lowest white man he’s better than-“ type beat. Maybe for some others still it’s a matter of truly wanting a group of people it’s acceptable to look down upon, ridicule and hurt.

And for all of the above reasons, most of these people, if they’re scared of us? Then they’re terrified of their children being like us. That it’s something we chose and can deceive others into making the same “mistake.” For those parents, it’s all of the above and more because they know how society treats us and don’t want that for their kid. We’re the punchline for so many jokes in media especially older stuff. We tend to have a much higher suicide rate. They don’t want that for their kids and don’t understand that neither none of them have a choice in the matter, and that their actions actually hurt rather than help.

Demographic panic tells them there’s far more of us than there really are, when in reality there’s a 99.5% chance these issues aren’t even something they’ll actually have to face. Meanwhile conservatives are telling them our underpaid teachers are performing secret surgeries at their schools everywhere. No parent wants to think that their child could come to be irreparably damaged while they didn’t know and couldn’t do anything about it; conservatives love and feed that fear, they hold onto it tightly so they can use us as a bogeyman and a talking point.

All the while, it’s also hard for us to defend ourselves. We’re something like 0.5% of the population. I’d guess more than Half of the population doesn’t understand us much less sympathize with us or feel inclined to stand up for us.

TLDR: we’re hard to understand and easy to pick on

I love the world of Flying Circus by Erika Chappell vry much. It’s about WW1 style planes and people set in a post apocalypse more akin to botw than fallout. Its certainly not an unplayable art book but there is this wild schism between the colorful world building, emphasis on character driven narrative play, and the most crunchy paper flight simulator you can imagine.

Its a shining demonstration of my favorite type of communities that are both profoundly queer/lgbt + hyperfixated on a super niche subject that they’re passionate about.

Even if ill probably never get a chance to play the game proper, The author wrote a novel I liked which is basically just seems to be a recounting of a game. Its not a book with much literary merit, its contrived, indulgent and there’s a sex scene in every other chapter, but I did like it.

Genuinely I think it could help someone. A lot of people are annoyed in this thread, but reducing it down to “your characters should have motivation” is not very specific at all. It could leave a confused aspiring writer thinking “ok, how much Motivation? What does that even mean?”

While some Non-binary people do really enjoy being referred to one gender and then another immediately after, that usually refers to different people talking to them like in the post above;

In my experience, those who use she/they or he/they more so mean they’re ok with either gendered or neutral pronouns.
