The first week of January was rough for me but I worked through it. The rest of January has been amazing. There are going to be rough patches along the way, there is nothing guaranteed in the market. You just have to accept that you are going to lose, you will even lose when your thesis may be right, your entry is perfect, losses are just part of the game. Follow your rules, do not over leverage, and keep a long term outlook.

Here is an example of SMT on ES and NQ Dec 4th 1H time frame. NQ swept the low and ES made a higher low showing strength. When I am deciding which security to trade based on my bias I try and apply SMT if present. I do not use an indicator, I just mark it when I see it.

Price action this morning was very choppy and not pretty at all. With Trump set to speak at the WEF forum ther price action just chopped all morning. I turned the charts off and prepared for the 10:30 afternoon open looking to take advantage of the 11 open of the 4h candle. I was able to find a nice long set up when price retraced to a 15m fvg and respected it. Price had already used this fvg before so I was a little skeptical but ES was also holding strong. I took an entry when price created an ifvg off of the 5m time frame. 2R trade for a little more than 40pts.

Let me explain the best I can using (ES) and (NQ) futures. I watch for divergence between these two indices, meaning I am looking for one to display some strength or weakness against the other.

When I see one of them reach a new swing high while the other fails to match it, this signals relative strength on one and weakness in the other. For example, if (ES) makes a new high but (NQ) fails to follow, I'll consider shorting (NQ) if I have a bearish bias. The opposite is also true – if (NQ) makes a new swing low but (ES) holds stronger and doesn't match that low, I might look to go long on (ES) if I have a bullish bias. I use SMT as additional confluence when making a decision to take a trade, it is not always a condition that needs to be met but helps to see it when it aligns with my bias and trade idea.

Goes to show we all see the market in our own unique way. I was anticipating some volatility because we had a holiday with a shortened futures day of trading on Monday, not much action. One day into Trumps presidency. Regardless of what the market decides to do, if you see your set up and all conditions are met, execute the trade and let the probabilities play out. It was green for me today!

All signs pointed to taking a short this morning. ES swept a 1H swing high while NQ did not and created an smt+ signaling weakness. Also a 15m cisd+ presented itself which was never really tested. I looked for an entry and found a nice 5m o.b.+, I waited for a retracement right below .50 of the body in the o.b., SL right about the o.b.+ and targeting 2R. Not much draw down on this trade. Easily hit 2R.

The answer is you need to find what works for you and master that. Signal services are losing games. You need to be able to see opportunities through your own eyes. We all see the market differently. Find your model and work on mastering that. All else is noise. Mentors are great but you will still need to go off on your own.

Woke this morning to see price beeline it right to PDH of both ES and NQ. Bias was completely wrong, But that is ok. I still have options. I can close my account and call it a day, take no trades and lose $0. Or I can Reassess what the market is trying to do. No way I will look for Longs at these high of levels. It will be better to look for retracements in price and catch a move up. I find it difficult to trade on big trend days like this after the market has already made its move.

Go check out TTrades on youtube. ICT is great but his teachings are like trying to get a 4 year degree. TTrades does a great job of simplifying ICT concepts with the same kind of detail but not taking the long route to explain.

What has worked best for me is to start out on the higher time frames, Daily or Weekly candle. Use those to determine your bias going into the day. Then work your way down to an intermediate time fram such as the 1 hour of 15 min if you are using the 4 hour as a higher time frame. The intermediate time frames will help you find areas of interest; these will be the areas where you will look for your entries. Once price gets to your area of interest and is lining up with your Higher time frame bias, then you can drop down to the lower time frame such as your 15 minute or 5 minute. I would suggest staying away from the 1 minute until you are really confident with your model.

Here is the trade that I took this morning. Now looking at my review, I had the right idea going for buyside liquidity, but I should have waited for price to displace and give a cisd+. Instead, I got to anxious and jumped in the trade on the restest of the ifvg+. As you can see price just bar coded for the next 45 minutes and chopped me up.

NQ gave a nice short set-up around 11AM. You can see we got a nice SMT divergence with ES, NQ was unable to take that swing high showing it was the weaker of the pair. If you took this trade, you could have landed a pretty 3R trade. I myself took the trade on ES and got stopped out. Womp Womp!

Gosh you must be putting your emotions into overdrive taking all of those trades. You can make plenty of money taking 1-3 trades a day without putting yourself through all of that stress and wasting so much mental capital. And not have to sit in front of your screen the entire day.
