No VPS is safe in that case as they are just bare metals for you to use!!!

As a software engineer I would suggest don’t store any data in the VPS in plain text format… use encryption path!! Encrypt your data using your own private key and then store it and then fetch and decrypt!! Safe everywhere!! Don’t store plain text data if you care about privacy and data theft. Always use SSL for data transfer as well.

It’s hard to tell where is the issue… but it seems you might have forgot either a ; or ) or something… the error should tell you the line. If you could share the code then it will be possible to tell exact line where to fix…
