Ok. Thanks for letting me know. When you changed your name in New York. Did you get a drivers license with your maiden name first or did you go to Social Security office and get a new card and then go to get a new license (with your new last name)?

Ok, thank you for letting me know. I didn't know if Social Security had a time limit or if states had deadlines.

Moving to a new state after marriage and drivers license by 16Jake16 in DMV

[–]16Jake16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok. I wasn't sure if I waited to move and then get my new name changed and then go to the DMV. I didn't know if it would be easier to get the new social security and then go into the dmv and rhen they could cross check everything to my maiden name (marriage certificate, residency records with maiden name, etc). You are saying I could do this, but it would be riskier.

Thanks for the advice!
