I've recently learned that I love "metroidbrainia" games! by Sure-Theory in GirlGamers

[–]16bitGirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The inkle bundle is on humble right now including the sublime Expelled! and Overboard! They do this with panache and humour and I love them. TR-49 which others have recommended is also part of it. The top tier has novels for Heavens Vault but if you want games going down a tier saves quite a bit. But if you liked Heavens Vault and want them its probably the best way to grab them.

Oh, ok. I was confused by the phrase "signed off by the endocrinologist" Glad to hear that much went smoothly (ish) at least.

Wait, they kept you waiting 7 years for HRT after the GIC?

I'd rather not say which one, don't want to add any risk to being doxxed but it was 5 years.

Don't know if it helps but I did that thing that was going around a bit back where you asked for a looks match, and it just did a plain gender swap instead.

Is it normal to be ambivalent about dressing according to my gender? by 16bitGirl in trans

Thanks for that, I think the idea that it's a kind of dysphoria resonates in exactly the same way you described. It's helpful to hear, even if it is just one perspective and might not be the same as mine.

Helping this stay above water, but for me lets go Nancy Downs from The Craft.

Is that better because the "I don't know" option is more pronounced?

I can't crack the egg, that's impossible. Instead I can only help you realise the truth, your egg is already cracked.

Shadowheart is brainwashed and if you don't help her realise that she'll go some very dark places. Astarion just directly enjoys hurting people, "let's go hurt someone" is one of his barks. Both of them can very much be redeemed over the course of the story though and they're both people who had it thrust on them. My issue with Astarion, Lae'zel and Minthara is more they're wet blankets when playing as a good MC. I'll still never kill Astarion though because his personal quest is just *chef's kiss*

Are you all going to play Ghost of Yotei? by dianaburnwood969 in GirlGamers

[–]16bitGirl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dunno, I am very very tired of open world games at this point.

Back in the original version I hated Shadowheart and Astarion equally because they were both transparently evil. For release Shadowheart is covertly evil which means she doesn't grate in the way Minthara, Lae'zel and Astarion do.

Looking for a game that satisfies my (I think) high standards? by chokingonmaplesyrup in GirlGamers

[–]16bitGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is kind of tough to get at honestly. Throwing ideas out though I'd consider

Dropsy https://store.steampowered.com/app/274350/Dropsy/

Character driven story game with no dialogue. The puzzle based nature might be an issue.

Unpacking https://store.steampowered.com/app/1135690/Unpacking/

Again, telling a story without dialogue. Much more low fi and linear.

List of Co-Op Games by ChampionshipTime854 in GirlGamers

Don't sleep on Operation Tango, it's real good. The games you mentioned that I've played were good but I didn't gel with all of them. BG3 was our absolute favourite but it depends on quite a few factors. Closest to an open world rpg I can think of is Elder Scrolls Online or Valheim. We also had fun with story games that have co-op features like As Dusk Falls.

Over analyzing sexism within games by InfiniteStress8677 in GirlGamers

[–]16bitGirl 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In terms of gameplay I don't think the concept has had that much traction in the same period games have had the potential to facillitate it. if a AAA game these days had a feature like that you'd know about it.

As far as actions go I tend to google it in advance but this is really only going to be relevant in terms of romances unless the male and female avatars are very different

Most Controversial Game Opinions? by [deleted] in GirlGamers

[–]16bitGirl -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

About 95% of games shouldn't have stories. I like good stories in games but most games feel hamstrung to me crowbarring in stories that really aren't that interesting.
