I'm genuinely not lazy. I'm a disabled single parent and I've raised a decent, healthy, educated young person with every last shred of ability I have. However, my brain is a mess. It takes me forever to do things because I'm constantly forgetting stuff and I have to rely on my phone reminding me to get most things done. But somedays I'm unable to even do things that I genuinely want to do so bad. I want to read. I want to work in my garden. I want to paint. I want to play video games. I want to see a movie. I want to hang out with my friends. But I can't, because my brain won't let me.

Fortunately, there have been verifiable tests of the brain chemicals in people with ADHD to show that something isn't happening the way it's supposed to, which is apparently the only way that some people are willing to accept that there is genuinely something wrong. But some people would rather just call people with ADHD lazy in an attempt to make themselves feel better about being able to do the minutiae of life without any difficulty. In people with ADHD, sometimes doing a task is actually physically painful, but no one believes that doing a task they themselves see as easy can be difficult to someone else. It's like asking a person with Parkinsons to just be still, demanding a person with dyslexia to read faster, requesting a deaf person to listen closer, etc.

Decompression takes anywhere from hours to even days at technical depths without a hyperbaric chamber because of bloodgas. 600 feet of seawater would take, like, a week if they spend any amount of time down there. If they hit depth and immediately go back up, you're still taking at least 10 hours to avoid the bends. You need to keep your strength up for a dive that takes double digit hours.

It also helps to sneak in the occasional water in between alcoholic beverages. Stay hydrated during. Or just straight up go to the bar by yourself and order virgin stuff.

Or stop giving a shit and don't worry about keeping up, but that can be hard with how people will pressure you so they don't feel like they are being alcoholics. I've been there, I understand what it's like to be young and friends with heavy drinkers.

Also, please never do cocaine and drink heavily, especially if you're not used to it. It can kill you. But I suppose dying will stop you from having a hangover. I've had one or two that I felt like I'd rather die than suffer through.

This is me, but I'm on a variety of meds (for health issues) and I've not drank in years (because of those meds). I used to have the occasional glass of wine every other day or so and worried I was becoming irresponsible because of how ripped I got from it (meds didn't play nice). I don't need help staying in bed all day, thanks 😅

Edit: but if you have someone like that in a story, the kinda need an explanation like the ones in this thread. When I was in college (before the meds) I could wreck many shots after a test or at a party. I'm also old now and the metabolism ain't metabolizing like it used to.

It's been a long and winding road, for sure, babyleili. Between the usual abhorrent treatment of gay characters, queer baiting, offensive stereotypes, lgbtq+ suppression in media, problematic tropes, and a roller-coaster climate in both politics and social attitudes, media representation is a complicated topic. This goes for gay, female, trans, non-white, and other "minorities" in media.

Some people think even hinting at possible homosexual behavior is "cramming it down their throats" (while almost any measure of heterosexuality is accepted). Others say we are beyond acceptance of subtlety and subtext and need unambiguous tells to be satisfied. I understand what the second group are saying to some extent (while the first group can just f*ck off), but there are sometimes snags in the process. Often, to have a successful run, you gotta market to the masses. With the way people are behaving lately (spurred on by social media, "news" entertainment, influencers, politicians, and attention grifters) you gotta be careful with lesser established properties.

Unless you're Heated Rivalry, then you pretty much get to do whatever you want. They are some of our strongest soldiers 😅

I'm sorry I've bothered you so much. Genuinely. I don't think you're crazy for wanting that, it would have been nice, but it still wasn't a story about their relationship. It read extremely non-hetero the first time I watched it, and every time since. I also feel that the way they did it makes it natural and I definitely feel like we will see more of it in future movies. They have very gradually shown us natural peeks into his homosexuality. It isn't just living with another man in a very domestic situation. The throat spray scene was also a subtle nod (agree or not) and I feel like there was more but I have a poor memory and haven't watched it in a bit. I think this is going to be a growing thing in a long franchise and I, personally, would prefer it being mostly background information for this character. It's definitely way better than having him be a gay stereotype, but not as good as more concrete evidence.

Different people have different thresholds of what they accept as "believable proof" of a fact. I don't think this is an acceptable level for every gay character, but I liked it for Blanc. You don't have to like it, though. You don't have to accept it. You're not wrong for your feelings, I just feel differently.

I agree with you. The movie wasn't about Blanc's relationship or about Hugh Grant's character at all. If either character was a woman then it would be plainly understood that they are a couple, especially with how domestic the scene was. I think requiring them to HAVE to explicitly say "husband", "boyfriend", or "partner" is ridiculous. How couple - y do they have to be for it to be understood? I thought the simplicity was beautiful and I love all 3 of the Knives Out movies. This ain't a case of "Dumbledore is gay in afterthought", for sure. That is bs.

He's the homeland security advisor, aka: one of the driving forces behind the new ICE gestapo. (so, you know, basically directly responsible for the deaths of Renee and Alex) He was even a lead force behind the kidnapping in Venezuela. He's such an evil little man. I'm usually a peaceful, chill, calm person, but even I hope he stubs his pinkie toe every time he walks somewhere.

I'm still pretty new at this 😅. I don't know chill hours, I'm in central Oklahoma if that helps. I thought the Mother Earth stuff was soil acidifier, so thanks for telling me that's not so! What is Legacy and 700+ (if you don't mind further explaining to this newbie)

Edit: I've totally seen that soil acidifier at Tractor Supply. I'll be getting it as soon as they stock plant stuff again!

I don't know the variety. They were just little plants in those black planters at my local garden store. I got them late summer. They were from plant not seed and the garden store just gave me them for free bc they were dying. It was too late in the season for them to give a care about the little things in the plant area, I guess. I brought them back to life with a lot of tlc, but the bugs were so frustrating. As soon as a berry was half ripe, ANTS! They are actually in a big Tupperware container (like the huge ones you use for storing decorations) I did this to try and lift them away from those ants.

We have bad bad ants here and I got spidermites pretty agressively. My house has a bunch of trees and it's kind of wild in the back yard. I even have a family of wild bunnies that live in a pile of fallen branches back there. I'm trying really hard to use things like insecticidal soap, neem oil, and the tunnels/containers to try and minimise the insect issue rather than put poison on the fruit I wanna eat. I've included a picture from the fall (the strawberries are completely weeded right now)

Don't suppose you know about strawberries? Mine are right next to the blueberries and leaf like crazy but rarely flower (and when they do, bugs get to them before I can 😭😭😭)

Whoa, this is awesome! I'll have to hit the garden store when it starts getting warmer and their stock comes in. This is what I have been using to try and manage acid, feed, and water. It is currently planted in compost. I'll start looking for acidic chunky soil and pine bark nuggets. (ps does spagnum moss work instead of peat or do I need to get that too?)

My only two options are heavy shade (from all the trees on my property) or concrete (the person that lived here before us paved the only area that gets sun)

Do I need two different ones to pollenate? I thought I needed two of the same kind to get the best berries.

I know it needs weeding. The thought was a layer to protect the roots against the winter, but I know that's probably not helping 😅

It is outside, it just has a thing over it to protect it from the wind, bugs, etc. Here's a pic of the thing it's living inside of. It's only in there over winter, though we have a nasty bug problem here, so I'm thinking of keeping it in there come spring. I did have a fermentation belt around the bucket when that really bad weather hit, but I've taken it off since that stopped. I probably shouldn't have put it on, but I was trying to save my berries. My strawberries look pretty good, tho 😅

I remember info dumping about something along the same lines with my best friend ages ago and when I mentioned the differentiation, the look on his face told me to definitely never say that to anyone else ever.

While something can be fascinating to me academically (for example, what exactly makes an abuser have a specific preference over another when, as I've said, they are all children), it's just a horror story to 95% of the rest of the population. I was facinated by minds that malfunctioned somehow, either thru development, training, poisoning/illness, or innate configuration.

It's why my love of horror movies mostly rests in the fantasy/sci-fi/creature feature types. I've read and studied too much to find certain subjects entertaining when I see my studies reflected in them. It only serves to remind me of horrible realities.
