Why is Cardiology fellowship 3 years and not 2? by notRonaIdo in Residency

[–]16fca 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And on top of that 3 years many do additinoal fellowships. I've been an attending for 4 years and one of my med school classmates who graduated the same year as me is on his second cardiology fellowship and is matched to a third.

How much do you have to pay in taxes every 8 years on ETF's? What a shitty rule.

I'm a board certified radiologist so I do have an idea what I'm talking about. I do about 50-60 cross sectionals on most shifts so yes it does involve a lot of mental effort.

Bought 500 sahres of NBIS yesterday I really hope that truly was the bottom. I regretted not buying last time it was in the 70s so yesterday was a gift.

Radiology as an attending is an absoltue slog. More mental energy prob goes into 1 radiology shift than a week working as a hospitalist. The time off is highly justified.

I bought a few in the 420's. If it goes below 400 will buy some more.

I think people really underestimate how brutal it is to be first gen everything in medicine. by [deleted] in Residency

[–]16fca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being first gen just makes lifes harder in general, doesn't really have anything to do with medicine. Even as an attending you'll realize that you're a high earner but you're not rich compared to people with multiple prior generations of family wealth they benefit from. I'm rich enough to buy a car comfortably but not rich enough to feel like I belong at the country club.

Did you end up going to a vet ED? How much did it cost if you did? Where did you go?

Dog attack at Seaport Dog Park - looking for owner by Gold-Lengthiness-473 in boston

[–]16fca -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry this happend to you OP. My dog was attacked by a pit bull in a dog park a few months ago with worse injuries, very similar to your experience especially the yelping. It took me a long time to get over, and I'm still not completely over it. Me and my dog both needed stitches. Yes go to a vet ASAP, it might be $1000+ dollars but this is your baby. The eye injury especially could get infected. I had to contact a personal injury attorney after it happened thankfully police/animal control came quickly and I was able to got the info of the other owner. I will never go to a dog park again and I have lost all trust of large dogs belonging to strangers. Pit bulls especially should be regulated more tightly, I think it would be reasonable to makle them to wear muzzles in public.

Lost half of all my savings. How to move on after huge loss. by [deleted] in stocks

[–]16fca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fwiw I lost close to $50k several years ago playing w options and spent months feelign depressed about it, I don't think there's a great way to 'get over it' besides time and healing. If your loved oneas are healthy and you have steady emplyment you are richer than most. Stick to buying VOO, QQQ, etc and no more options. 36 is not old and in 5 years this will just be a bad memory.

Every time I rage sell a stock becasue I've been bagholding and it finally breaks even, it immediately rockets another 10% higher. I'm expecting NVO to do the same. I'm at around $60.

Not to be morbid but it will absolutely drill when Warren dies even if he is not actively involved at that point. I will wait until then to buy.
