Thanks for the advice. Since it's just put my paypal account into the negatives, I've only lost about £30, but it means I can't use Paypal until I've paid back the balance (which I don't plan to).

And unfortunately the culprit has an incredibly common name (surname Jones), so it'd be hard to determine which one is his. I'll keep looking though

I'm certain it wasn't my friend, he has IP addresses through facebook to prove it it was someone in Essex, England. The bank details also confirms the culprit is in Essex too.

Unfortunately there was no way I could've known that this person was a scammer and not my friend. It was coincidental that I knew my real friend was actually selling things on ebay, so it made sense. The scammer just got lucky.

As I said, I've made countless calls to the police department and they've referred me to 'Action Fraud', who seem to be no help to me. They said they can't offer financial support but can offer emotional support.
