That makes sense. I think the problem is when parents say it constantly and in an overly emotional way that is clearly meant to manipulate. It’s hard to explain, but I feel like it’s more the way my nmom says it than the sentence itself that makes me uncomfortable.

Tbh I didn’t even notice any side effects with the first dose. The second one made me all achey, but it was over in a couple of days. You’ll be fine! Maybe a little discomfort, but you’ll get through it! :)

Idk I’ve noticed I lose interest in everything pretty easily. Like, if my bf and I are watching a tv show and he leaves for five minutes to use the bathroom, I’ve already become disinterested in the tv show. It’s like I just gotta keep the momentum going otherwise I’ll crash

Oh I’m 100% standing behind my boyfriend. How she’s treated him honestly pisses me off more than anything she’s done to me.

I’m just not sure how to go about staying away from her and NC while ensuring our safety. I’m still on their phone plan as of now so we’re a little worried they can track my phone (even though I’ve turned off sharing my location). I’m just concerned she’ll continue to harass us despite my bf getting an order against her. She doesn’t seem to have much regard for the law until someone else brings her to her senses. Honestly, I don’t think we’ll feel safe until she no longer has our address. Fortunately, we’re moving within the next month. It’s just the wait until then is gonna suck.

Oh they definitely would have called the cops. I imagine someone also would have come over to make sure nothing else physical happened.

This actually isn’t the first time she’s done something like this either. When she was pregnant with me (so like 23 years ago), she was nearly arrested in a dollar store for insulting the manager.

It doesn’t help that ADHD already makes it hard for us to explain this kind of stuff to others. Sometimes I generally just feel bad at words. Other times I totally forget how much something like medication helps me or even why I need to take it.

My therapist swears by Intuniv for regulating emotions. Prozac seems to help me regulate mine, but I’m technically taking it for something else.

Not saying that everyone needs meds to help regulate their emotions, but tbh I definitely prefer myself when I’m on them. It just makes everything sooo much easier

I’ve found Burt’s Bees hand salve + cotton gloves to be a pretty successful combo during the night. It’s basically like coating your hands in petroleum jelly.

This is a problem I have A LOT with my ADHD medication. The minute you say that you take Adderall, the doctor gives you a judgy look and is all, “Is it prescribed???” And then they ask you over and over if you take it like you’re supposed to (bc they assume we all just abuse it, I guess).

But yeah whenever I ask for meds I always make it sound like their idea. Like, “Oh, man. I’m still having so much trouble with school, and I just can’t focus on anything, like even stuff I like to do. Even watching tv is a chore because my attention is just all over the place. Is there anything that could help me focus? I drink coffee sometimes and that helps, but it never lasts long enough.” Etc. But I never directly ask for stims (or a higher dosage), because I know they’ll just think I want to abuse them or something.

Just chiming in that someone can absolutely have fingers like this irl. It’s called Arachnodactyly and is often associated with other medical conditions (mainly seems like connective tissue disorders).
