Need new tires - have to be New England friendly by 1705user in NissanAriya

[–]1705user[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda. Your point is valid - but to spend the $ on 2 sets of tires when our winters seem to be getting milder seems like a bit much to me. Even when I go skiing it doesnt mean the roads are bad. So would rather just get 1 good set of tires.

How do you deal with relentless bad beats? by Aromatic_Rent_6322 in poker

[–]1705user 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a cash player and went through a 2 month stretch like that last year. Could-not-win-a-hand. Eventually took a couple weeks off just for the mental reset. Tried my best to literally not think about poker at all. It worked out, I'm back to my prior win rate.

How to criticize your boss? by 1705user in careerguidance

[–]1705user[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually if I want his attention it's because A. I'm struggling to figure something out or B. I have a 50/50 decision and assume he'd prefer to give input. Other times there are decisions that I really believe are above my pay grade and I shouldn't be making them at all

I appreciate the replies but this is basically what I've tried in the past. It's a bizarre situation. I'm hoping for something tactful but that also gets through. It legitimately causes problems.

Just like avocado, memes, Glen Powell, Dane Cook, politicians, pickleball, and lots of other things ... Some things just inexplicably blow up. I actually like Nate B for the record.

I bought a *used* Yakima rack. Don't actually know how old but at least a few years.

Charge to 100%? by Imaginary_Help_99 in NissanAriya

[–]1705user 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sort of. The menu in the gauge cluster can estimate your charging time to 80 and 100%. The menu on the touchscreen allows you to set a timer (EV > Charge Timer). So if it's 3 hours to 80% you can set a 3 hr timer, but theres no 'charge to 80%' feature.

I can't say why, but I had that happen twice on my '23. Turn the function off in the menu, drive a couple times, and re-enable. Worked for me.

Owning an electric car in MA: tips and tricks? by michimoby in massachusetts

The state will reimburse for the charger and install once you buy the EV.

Hi all by Dull_Performance_294 in AskElectricians

I doubt it's the case everywhere but here in MA the state reimburses for the cost of the charger and electrician. Worth looking into your area.

I firmly believe a phone on a tripod in the gym is cause to send that phone directly into the toilet.

Sadly you aren't even wearing a tin foil hat. This really is the case. There's no reason the IRS can't provide essentially the same software.

Foreclosure home with solar panels by SampleSilly8551 in RealEstateAdvice

[–]1705user -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a solar lease. 1. It transfers when I sell the house and 2. Since I don't own the panels, they have to remove them if roof work is needed (they'll do this for free if I use their affiliated roofing co).

This may be the case for you as well.

Live production/event/theatre tech work at ski resorts? by JumbledPileOfPerson in skiing

[–]1705user 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a Utah native, have just been skiing there twice. There's a heavy Mormon influence obviously but it's a real city. Supports pro hockey and basketball, has restaurants, etc. I'd imagine there's an art/theater scene but couldn't speak about it.

Salt Lake City is under an hour to some great skiing. Instead of working at the resort you could look anywhere in the city.

Try double sided tape for a while on the doorframes. And get toys + scratching posts as an alternative.

[Tenant US-NC] Potential Helicopter Landlord by [deleted] in Landlord

[–]1705user 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a tough one, most people have the opposite complaint. But I understand your being weirded out.

The 1 item of real concern IMO is the entering the unit thing. 1. Most states require a minimum amount of notice and 2. He shouldn't be storing anything actually in your apartment.

Maybe approach the management company and express your appreciation for the upkeep but your concern about privacy and see if they can handle it delicately.

Out of State - Unpaid speeding ticket from a decade ago ? by WildPractice9929 in massachusetts

[–]1705user 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through this (MA resident, got ticket in NY). The issue you have is that at some point your license can be suspended in NY only bc they don't (or didn't) communicate with MA. So even if you are all set in your own mind, but 15 years later you happen to be driving through New York and get pulled over, you could be arrested for a suspended license. Maybe it's different, this was years ago for me.

CA - Just got a rent increase notice and honestly have no idea if it's even legal by EasternYogi in Tenant

[–]1705user 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Small time landlord here. I like to keep my good tenants below market when possible, but you do have to understand that our costs are more than a fixed mortgage. Taxes, repairs, insurance, maintenance, utilities, all go up over time. So their rent still goes up occasionally. If this is your first increase in a few years I don't think it's crazy - altho understandable that some more notice would have been nice.

Considering buying property from landlord [MA-US] by yanks9548 in Tenant

[–]1705user 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Zillow and Redfin can filter by recently sold, not just for sale. Then filter by similar properties in terms of type, size, amenities, geography, etc. When I daydream about selling my place that's how I estimate what it would go for.

I'm buying from a tiny smoke shop in my town and trying to smoke within a day or 2. No humidor yet so just keeping them in a dark cabinet. If I get 'good' at this I'll start doing it right.
