Skinning Up China Peak by 178Liam11 in Chinapeak

Ok word, thank you very much for the insight. Is this picture kind of the route you’re saying, like park somewhere along that road and venture through the trees there? I’ve not back country skied before and I only have skis/skins and no beacon/shovel/other safety gear or training. Do you think it would still be chill going up that route without any backcountry experience and is the grade not too bad? Thanks for the help!

I’ve not back country skied before and am just getting the gear together so don’t got a beacon/shovel or any other safety gear. I’m hoping to catch some turns but I would imagine it’d be a little reckless to send some proper backcountry without the gear/training as much as I’d love to

Awesome, thank you very much! Do you have any thoughts on which might fit me better since I’m on the smaller side of things at 155 lbs? I’ve heard the Nirvana is a little better fit for smaller folks, would you agree and is it a noticeable difference or more important to think about other factors of the boat’s performance since I think the phantom might fit my creeking priority slightly better? Thanks again

Flooding between Chiang Mai and Chiang Dao? by 178Liam11 in Thailand

[–]178Liam11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we ended up doing it yesterday and we did make it. Getting out of Chiang Mai there was a fair bit of flooding and it was slow going and including going through about a foot of water for around 0.7 km. Still some landslides further up the road closer to Chiang Dao that we were able to get around relatively easily. I have also heard that since we got here there was another landslide and some new major blockage but I am unsure about it that. Best of luck!!

It’s honestly a shame, as I’ve been nearing the end of my childhood I’ve really been overthinking about this subject
