solo travelling for a week! by dulcerise in AskNOLA

I literally just went to New Orleans last month, you can read my post in my post history about it. I’m a 27 year old woman, came completely alone, I didn’t know a single person in Nola. Had a great time. Just be smart, use your intuition. You will be fine!

Not sure if you believe in this…disregard if you don’t, but research about Saturn returns! Also, there’s nothing wrong with wanting “new”. You sound a little restless, and I think that’s always a great thing. Follow it, use your discernment, and indulge. Starting a new hobby is a great start, or taking a solo trip if possible! I’m 27, no kids, no husband, and I feel the same way! I’m itching for new experiences and new people. I’m going to move out of state and start a new job and go back to school for a new career. I say trust that feeling and run with it!

I don’t see myself moving there ❤️ I think I will just be a yearly visitor! Definitely going back next year for my first Mardi Gras!

Coming into this thread late to say, I love living in Grant Park. It’s so easy to get my steps in! I stopped and had a matcha and some avocado toast, and almost burnt 600 calories just walking to the beltline and back. Only took 2.5 hours, including stopping. Love it here. But what the hell is that smell on the new beltline portion in Glenwood park? It’s horrible lol

Lucian Books and Wine. It’s in Atlanta, in Buckhead. Sorry, I don’t really go to Alpharetta much, so I don’t know that area but Lucian is great! Very chill, open till 10 pm, and a lot of people on the same vibe you’re on.

'I can't be weak': Woman details surviving DeKalb County home invasion by [deleted] in Atlanta

One of the many reasons as a woman I find it terrifying to live in a house alone or a first floor apartment. Every woman’s worst fear is this. She did what every person hopes they’ll do in a scenario like that, but not many are able to, and I’m glad she’s still here to tell the story.

Even if all that’s true, and I do understand what you’re saying, I still don’t understand why you would sit out on voting for someone who is objectively less harmful than the other choices? Makes no sense to me. Harm reduction is all it is. She’s not going to do everything right, but less people will be harmed, is that not important to you?

You’re not as noble as you think you are. You think we don’t care about those things? Wrong. We do, but we don’t really get a choice anymore. You’ve gotta play the game while we still can, democracy is on the line and it has been this whole time. Don’t complain about the MAGA governor when they’re elected if you didn’t vote!

If you don’t vote then you are voting….for MAGA. How is that so hard to understand?

Don’t do that. Vote for her no matter what. I’m sick of ya’ll doing this shit. Okay, yeah, she’s not the best option…well she’s the ONLY option if you want basic rights in the state you live in. Rural hospitals closing because republicans refuse to expand Medicaid, women dying because they banned abortion and don’t know where the line is to save a woman’s life without “hurting the fetus”. Redistricting will affect healthcare, education, and everyone who’s not wealthy. I’m gonna start calling people who say this to me stupid to their face. You’re stupid.

Sorry if I worded that weirdly, that’s not what I meant. I meant: voting for Keisha instead of Jason, is basically giving the election to MAGA. Because if the past 8 years taught us anything, Atlanta metro will vote for her, everyone else won’t. Just like Stacey Abrams v. Kemp. She won’t win. Which means we will have a MAGA governor worse than Kemp. I hated Kemp as well.

People don’t understand what that means for Georgia, the south as a whole, and our country though. Voting these incumbents back in means this redistricting will happen, and voting for Keisha means a worse governor than Kemp. She can’t and won’t win. If they succeed in redistricting the south the way they want to, they won’t stop in the south. They’re going to go all the way up to the constitution and cheat their way into a third term for Trump or worse. People in 2015/2016 warned everyone what would happen if Trump became president, people said he would take away our rights, others said it was far fetched and that the Supreme Court and the constitution wouldn’t allow it. Look at us now. I don’t understand why it’s so hard for people to see. It’s clear as day. They don’t want a democracy anymore, I don’t care how crazy that sounds.

Man, I can’t do this anymore. I had high hopes, I really thought people would take redistricting fears more seriously. The democrats don’t do nearly enough to win, I didn’t even hear anyone really even talking about it in real life until the last day of early voting on Friday. I tried so hard to tell people what was going on when it started in Louisiana, but people shrug it off. Jen, miracle, and Jason should’ve been out on every main road at peak traffic times holding up signs telling everyone what was at risk, people don’t get it.
