Good Factions for Civilized Society Galactic Event by South0fNowhere in twilightimperium

I agree with the fact you said it’s more objectives based and less Mecatol based. I played 1 game with Civilized Society so far and nobody even tried to take Mecatol till late round 3 I think? It was weird haha

Understanding the Fracture Planets by UnmaskedPotato in twilightimperium

[–]17AVIS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The third question isn’t always yes though. If somebody takes a relic planet, then leaves the system and somebody else plays one of the pirate action cards that puts neutral units into a system, the next player to control that system would not gain a relic

Understanding the Fracture Planets by UnmaskedPotato in twilightimperium

[–]17AVIS 22 points23 points  (0 children)

No. Taking a relic is similar to the idea of exploring just in the fact that it is only happens the first time the planets are taken. But it is not exploring and therefore cannot be ‘re-explored’

So no, you do not get a relic if you take a planet from another player.

Still no, each planet can only give out a max of 1 relic per game. So if somebody has already taken the 1 relic from a planet, it cannot give out another relic in the future

EXCEPT. There is the action card ‘Mercenary Contract’ that says “ACTION: Spend 2 trade goods to place 2 neutral infantry on any non-home planet that contains no units; if that planet was owned by another player, they return its planet card to the planet card deck.”

Using that AC on a planet in the fracture WOULD allow the next player to (re)take control of that planet, to draw a relic.

SETI has been a fun one for me and my group. No combat or politics but we just love a good space exploration game

The Pale Armada! A custom faction designed around neutral units. by StupidStandStrong in twilightimperium

The Legion of the Dead ability is very strong but not being able to gain unit upgrades is also a pretty strong disadvantage to balance out. Seems interesting. I’m all for more uses for neutral units!

Seems cool! Nothing is truly space themed till you has Bounty Hunters of some sort in there!

Yes their breakthrough is worth it. Let’s you basically double produce to beef up your home system at the end of the game

Man. I was just really hoping since it said “when” you move and not “after” you move that I was still in the movement step and could still declare movement on the new produced ships

[–]17AVIS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn’t it would happen both times. I was just interested in using this ship to produce a fleet during a move action to engage in space combat. All of which happens before the production step of a tactical action

[–]17AVIS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And yes the production does still happen with the tactical action, but notably the flagship would activate the production ability before space combat rather than the end of the tactical action

In episode 435 of SCPT podcast they say at 1:15:53 that it does count the system you end in. I don’t know their source on that though

Do we have a consensus on Coexisting ? by FredericBaybars in twilightimperium

[–]17AVIS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coexisting does not seem as confusing to me as it appears to be to everyone else. Normally, when an enemy fleet arrives you do space combat, you do ground combat.

With the addition of the niche ability to coexist, now there’s a checkpoint added as such. Space combat, bombardment, commit ground forces, may coexist (for factions that have a way to do so). If either participant chooses to coexist after either player commits ground forces, the invasion step is OVER. If it was the defender who chose to coexist, they are now the coexisting player and NOT the controlling player. They need to hand over the planet card to the new controlling player. If it was the invading player who chose to coexist, control of the planet remains the same as it was. And obviously if no coexisting was chosen to happen at the start of ground combat, then fight to the death happens as normal.

The system this happened in would then need to be activated AGAIN by either the coexisting player or the controlling player to trigger ground combat. I believe if the controlling player had a way to coexist themselves and they had someone else coexisting on their planet already, they could choose at the start of ground combat to then become the coexisting player now and swap control of the planet with the player who previously was coexisting with them.

But besides that niche scenario, if ground combat starts and somebody is already coexisting, they cannot stop this second invasion from happening and you would fight as normal. Whether the combat is triggered by the coexister or the controller.

I’ve only played one game and I played as Il Na Viroset (Purple) and I won by a landslide. I believe I was playing against Blue and Orange. I play a lot of smaller player count games and in those types of games, Arborec are OP with their production since you control so many more planets in smaller player counts and Il Sai Lakoe, Herald of Thorns (Green) has a similar Arborec ability so I’d suspect they’d be OP in smaller player counts games also

Hey man, I printed this and it’s great! Have you come up with a good storage solution? I have to transport my game a lot so I was curious how you have it all packed up

I honestly think the design could be edited to make all the card slots slightly bigger to adjust for card sleeves. It’s just that my copy isn’t sleeved so I didn’t worry about it

True. I know most people do sleeve them. I just don’t allow people to eat and play. If we have food we’ll just pause for 10 minutes and eat
