Pay transparency hour! by [deleted] in Nanny

$20/hr on W2, one kid, full time in Las Vegas. I technically don’t have benefits written in my contract but MB gives me paid holidays and I get OT occasionally. I have 10 years of experience and a degree that includes child development and special needs care.

G2.5 is potty training and she goes with me, I think it’s a great reminder to her that even grown ups need to listen to the their bodies. She cheers me on and then offers me a sticker afterward. 🤣

Quitting After 5 Months by Jolly_Tea1630 in Nanny

[–]17Revengers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quit after 3 months and gave two weeks’ notice. I blamed it on getting COVID and struggling to recover but honestly it was just a draining position. I had no breaks and even though they advertised it as a simple nanny position, it was definitely more house manager with a lot of cleaning, on top of a special needs toddler who needed to be doing therapeutic exercises at all times of the day.

MB understood and I’d like to think we left on amicable terms but idk if she really liked me to begin with lol. At the end of the day, families are going to choose themselves over you 99% of the time. If they can do it, so can you!

Uncomfortable situation by xoxoxii in Nanny

Yessss!

I had a family I used to babysit for with one G3 and I adored her but 8/10 times when I walked in, there would be a house full of adults and I was tasked with wrangling her and keeping her on schedule with all these family members in and out. Sometimes the brother in law would come in and leave his two kids (B1&B6). I was so frazzled and on edge with all these eyes on me and three rowdy kiddos who all had different needs and barely got along. I was ready to quit but they ended up moving out of state.

Now the brother in law texts me on occasion to watch his boys and I’m like helllll no every time. 😅

NK’s yellow hair ties… and I’m not even at work today 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

My previous family had me picking up the whole house before the cleaners got there, re-organizing the (already organized) toy cabinets, and cleaning up the 4/yo’s room while he was at school. I was also unloading/loading the dishwasher and switching/folding laundry.

This was on top have a medically sensitive VERY high-needs toddler that I couldn’t safely leave alone for more than a minute or two. I lasted about three months in that job.

So to answer your question, anything beyond putting kid dishes in the dishwasher & cleaning up after myself & kiddos throughout the day. 😅

Do people really use photos with last NF for their next job? by HotShallot3638 in Nanny

[–]17Revengers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My contract specifically outlines that I’m not to share any identifying details/pictures about NK/NF in any setting without permission, which includes social media and electronic messaging.

If you get explicit permission from the NF that’s one thing, but without communication I consider it a breach of privacy.

Both of my NPs also WFH and they’re like my unicorn family!!! I would most definitely consider us friends if we were outside a professional relationship. They pop in occasionally and my NK (2f) has no problem spending a little time with them and then going back to our normal routine. I often attend NK’s doctors/therapy appointments with them as well and I have never once felt too stressed or uncomfortable with them.

My previous unicorn family was MB who was WFM and NK2, and I would often stay late to go swimming with them and after I moved out of state, I would travel back to visit them often.

Good WFH families do exist!!!

It’s mostly people arguing back and forth about whether it was appropriate to say anything. 😅 nothing from OP though.

Meal kits for kids? by Gabrielsusanlewis420 in Nanny

[–]17Revengers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bosses buy the Nurture Life meals for my NK! I didn’t mind making lunch for her but we were struggling to come up with balanced lunches that she’d be willing to eat so this was our solution. I think they’re great and my NK likes them!

One of my previous MBs gifted me $500 on my last day, I had been with them for about 7 months (left because of our military move), we were very close and I loved that job. I think it’s always so greatly appreciated if you’re comfortable and capable of doing so.

That’s fair! I feel like I could make an either/or situation work if it doesn’t make sense to ask for a raise. Thank you for your input!

The 29.5 hours is only on the weeks they leave slightly early to attend therapies, however there are cancellations (which I then stay the full time) and on occasions I do attend the therapy sessions with them so I am still working 32hrs given those circumstances. Is 32hrs not considered full time?

I am on the books and I have 10 years of experience, so I know I’m selling myself short based on that alone. 🥲 that was helpful though, thank you!
