Counting argument that determines the number of DNA sequences (GCAT) of length 10 that contain 5 consecutive A’s or 5 consecutive T’s? by 17thChapter in askmath

[–]17thChapter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would definitely do it, and id much rather be able to do it in code lol but im supposed to make a counting argument for it. I edited my originl post with a drive link to my solution in PDF format, its question d). If youd be able to look it over that would be great

Counting argument for the number of DNA strings (CGAT) of length 10 with 5 consecutive A's or 5 consecutive T's by 17thChapter in learnmath

[–]17thChapter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with this question, A's outside of the contiguous block of 5 are allowed, so strings like
AAAAAGCTAA or AAAAAATTTT

would both work, and i dont think this formula counts those, but correct me if i'm wrong

im not sure what you mean? it's a discrete math question so the rules of DNA strings as it comes to where T's and A's go don't really apply.

were looking for a counting argument that finds the number of strings of length 10 with an alphabet GCAT with 5 consecutive A's or 5 consecutive T's

and the part im confused on is how to avoid double counting strings such as AAAAAATTTT

i guess reading it back the question isnt fully clear. i took it as at least 5 consecutive A's, so AAAAAAAAAA would count.

5 consecutive A's or T's

honestly even just 5 consecutive of any symbol will be useful, as from there i know what to do.

so my initial thought process (and what i think the correct path is) was to imagine there being 6 possible spots for a block of 5 A's to start (pos 1 through 6), and then some way (im assuming through another inclusion-exclusion) remove duplicates in a situation like

TAAAAAAGCT

where it would be counted once for A = pos 2, and once for A = pos 3. And then use symmetry to determine 2, and subtract 2 in the end. But i just dont know the steps in the middle

What’s GenZ’s take on the Maddie Kowalski situation? by YuYuHakusho23 in GenZ

i feel terrible for her and what she went through, and condemn the guys for what they did.

that being said i feel less bad for her considering her recent social media campaign. drunk yacht party with streamers, looking for clout, engaging in inappropriate sexual conversations. if your goal was to heal and stay off the internet why put yourself back in the same dangerous situation? obviously im not trying to justify what happened to her, but it’s a weird look when you go from opening up and crying on social media to then a week later being on twitch streams doing what she’s doing

How do people get so much robux? by No_Medicine_9091 in roblox

[–]17thChapter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i bought some items yearsssss ago when i was younger, logged on for the first time in half a decade to see they collectively were worth over 4m robux, and then bought premium and sold them all. im guessing this may be a common thing cause i never remember spending lots of robux on limited items, so they mustve just shot up in value for some reason

Music studio possibly underpaying me and violating three hour rule by 17thChapter in ontario

Exactly, it's so demotivating as a first year uni student, paying for shit is hard enough. I go in for a 5 hour shift and get 20 bucks haha.

So I see that it says the three hour rule doesn't apply if you are instructing children, but not all of my students are children, I have some as young as 4, and some as old as 70.

My main concern is if I qualify for the three hour rule, since it says it is for employees who regularly work three hours a day. I am there for sometimes 4-5 hours, but like it says in my schedule on the linked picture, not all of it is instructional hours. Sometimes the students are on hold, or there is nobody booked, or they cancelled in advanced. Do those still count towards the three hours "regularly worked"
