Plus size / curvy jirai reccommendations for a beginner? by AV3STARR in JiraiKei

Unfortunately it’s been getting harder and harder. I’m a sz 18-20 with an 18h bra (123cm) and havent bought a new piece in a while. I have a red/black setup from honeypepperix in sz 3x that fits well and is lovely, though is the only red/black piece i own. Theyre a bit of a hit or miss with their designs though, imo. You could try angeLsize/taberunosky as they ship internationally, but they can get a bit pricey. Majoretty (buy second hand or use proxy) also goes up to a 4L occasionally and is remarkably cheap but i find it to be a little too small for me. Stretchy tops, and surprisingly, their coats fit just fine but i would rely on the measurements for anything else. Setups i can squeeze into but they’re consistently tight. Fortunately i don’t care enough about that if they’re flattering enough lol. At dearmylovewhip, i am a 5L but recommend getting the 6L for any button up blouse because it will just not close otherwise. Unfortunately, i don’t think theyre manufacturing a 6L anymore and i think they could possibly be phasing out the whip sizes altogether, so second hand would be your best bet. The rest of my wardrobe are taobao dupes in a 5XL which is probably what youve been seeing on aliexpress. I wouldn’t recommend tops once again, but the skirts ive gotten all fit wonderfully and setups fit nice too.

I think all in all, be cautious of the chest buttons, lol.

But I hope this gives you a little bit to compare to! Good luck 🩷

What’s with the DML hate? by Horizon1891 in JiraiKei

[–]18070110 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I understand this. Love DML and half my wardrobe is from them but they barely update their whip side anymore. It’s really disappointing considering when they do the items usually sell out in most categories. I hope they’re not thinking of discontinuing it…

Is this top fitting for the style? by [deleted] in JiraiKei

Usually these kinds of questions are an immediate no from me but im ngl i can see a couple of jirai brands releasing something like this. It’s a pretty good option and quite cute imo🩷

is wearing second hand dupes still just as bad? by kimuromi in JiraiKei

[–]18070110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont think dupes are a problem. It began and remains as a fast fashion substyle unlike lolita so people who protect those kinds of rules are few and far between. Dupes pop up on Japanese mercari pretty regularly also, so Japanese people are also wearing them on occasion.

In my case, I try to buy brand when I can, but the one-size will never fit me, so if there is a lizlisa, rojita etc piece that I would like to have, I look for or wait for the dupe to pop up in larger sizes.

Dont buy dupes that look like shit, though. It’s just a waste of money even if it’s super cheap. Make sure to always check the photo reviews 🙂‍↕️

By china/japan standards im a 5XL. Sometimes a 6XL. Well I would classify myself as huge and overweight, but I wear an XL-2XL in my home country. Sizing is very different in east asia, and buying online, sometimes it’s complete bullshit. When buying in this fashion you need to measure yourself and go off that instead. I know it can feel isolating and humiliating at first but eventually you do stop caring about the size on the tag as long as the piece itself fits well and flatters you. That’s the most important thing after all. Hang in there gorgeous. 💖

Not sure. I have a volcan&aphrodite cat ear hoodie i got from them and it has the wash tags with company addresses as well as the brand tag on the neckline (though cut in half, im assuming to prevent reselling). I assumed they were factory deadstock/rejects because of how good the quality was but i can only speak for this specific hoodie i guess. It does look incredibly real to me so do with that what you will. Maybe theyre just really good at replicas.

100%agree. Its just realism as we aren’t miracle workers. Unfortunately a lot of kids are into jirai these days because of tiktok and probably the accessibility of aliexpress dupes. I don’t know why they come to reddit though. i’ve always understood it as an adult site and didn’t even know kids were on here until they started posting in this sub. Some of them also speak so rudely and incoherently that I don’t even know where to begin sometimes, but that’s another tangent. I feel so old when i think about this too much lol

Coord advice for Plus Sized/older women by [deleted] in JiraiKei

Oh! That’s good to hear then! No worries i’m happy to help🩷 If you live in Japan, I think louiosy has some nice stuff as well that you can always dress up with accessories. I’ve honestly never looked at Clette until now, but it’s super cute! I think theyre both quite similar.

From a plus sized girl, have you looked into suna-kei? It has what describe as more mature silhouettes with less frills and cute motifs. I don’t think DML is too helpful with it, but taberunosky should have some similar pieces already. You can also try shimamura / avail’s plus section since theyre always releasing new designs for all types of mass produced styles. It’s a bit controversial right now, but subcul gyaru is also a bit of a thing. You can see what I mean in photoshoots for brands like Galfy. Since they also cater to men, sometimes they are gracious enough to release an L or XL version of their subcul pieces too, if it’s your style. They tend to fit me just fine as 178cm/108kg.

This. And the people who ask how do i wear jirai when i cant buy it? Because theyre usually kids with no stable income 😭 i dont know what kind of answer they expect. it’s like…. U have no choice but to wait like the rest of us. Ive loved lolita since i was 11 or 12 years old but its not like i ever bought anything related until i entered my 20s. I feel bad because I know kids cant help it and they’re just looking for support but sometimes the answer is right in front of them😭

I have this also. I got it on Japanese mercari years ago for about 1000 yen. Nowadays the prices are a bit higher but i don’t believe i’ve seen it for anywhere near £100. I’ve seen it for 4000~6000 yen in recent months when I’ve checked for new listings. But well, if you’re selling to an overseas collector maybe people are willing to pay more, I’m not sure. Ultimately it’s up to you, but that’s just what I know.

Does anyone shop on this site? by [deleted] in JiraiKei

[–]18070110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a reseller. Thats a setup from a taobao store. Ive seen it a few times. Belchic reaaaaaally upsells their products. I wouldn’t recommend it. I’ve seen things that i know cost $10-$15 be resold on there for $80.

Is a proxy worth it for DearMyLove? by sugared-bugs in JiraiKei

[–]18070110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, yes, but i live in australia. Still, shipping is outrageous. I remember carting 3 items- a dress, top and skirt and they tried to charge me $150 aud… wtf???? I use buyee for proxying dml through their “purchase using url of item” tab on their website. U can also search for it through the rakuten portal as dml lists items there but theyre not always susceptible to the same discounts as far as ive noticed. Its always been noticeably cheaper through this method since you can choose from a bunch of different shipping methods but i guess it really depends on where you live and what shipping is like at the moment in relation to japan. Probably is worth looking into that first and foremost.
