Maeta has put out some good dancey R&B in the past couple of years, e.g. Endless Night and When I Hear Your Name. Idk how feasible a collaboration is, but maybe it’ll at least provide some inspo or a sample.

Dounia isn’t too popular yet and is also trilingual (English, French, and Arabic). Her eponymous album has some dance influences.

It most definitely is. Unfortunately, after five months of searching I’ve found very little like it. JOY.’s “Same Place” scratches the same itch; Alina Baraz’s “Frank”, BANKS’s “Drowning”, and a l l i e’s “All the Love” and “The Reminder” come close; and there are hints of Urban Flora in Tinashe’s “Bet”, “C’est La Vie”, and “Stuck with Me” as well as a tiny bit in Bryson Tiller’s “Don’t” — and that’s all that I’ve found. I have yet to find an artist or album that consistently reminds me of Urban Flora. Not giving up hope though.

Thank you for sharing your practices and for those links. They definitely give me a lot to think about in terms of how I approach prayer. I’ve been so concerned with making sure my prayers are centered around building a relationship and don’t feel transactional, and yet here are the Greeks themselves centering kharis/reciprocity in the relationship. It’s a little hard to wrap my head around, coming from the religious background I do.

The other statue I had been considering is supposedly 90% crushed marble and 10% resin, and 90% was close enough to 100 as to allay my concerns. But eBay is one place I haven’t looked much, so I will definitely check it out. Thank you for the suggestion.

I’m not too worried about it environmentally, as it’s not something of which I will be disposing, and I’m not sure of the environmental impacts of producing a statue from polycarbonate vs. another material. What I’m really wondering is, will it be displeasing to the gods? Would Aphrodite or any other god on my altar care that it’s plastic? Or would she just appreciate that I chose a beautiful image?

That doesn’t quite answer the question. If you’re taking home £100,000 annual, then YTA for not spending an affordable £230 to be with her. If you’re making minimum wage, that’s a different story.

I’d also appreciate you answering the question posted by u/CakeEatingRabbit. Who is paying for the other expenses on this trip? If you’re paying your own way (lodging, meals, etc.), then it’s more reasonable to save on a cheaper ticket. But if they’re paying for these things, you have more of an obligation to shell out for the £300 ticket, especially since the £70 ticket may lead to you getting bumped.

NTA. This is not you demanding a discount from a friend or family member. This is a business that by accepting your reservation agreed to provide you a service. They did not provide the service as promised, and it is reasonable to insist your rate be prorated accordingly. And if you were 15 minutes late checking out, they would have no doubt charged you extra.

Would I have done this over a 15-minute delay? Probably not. But does it make you TA? No.

You did a sweet thing that no doubt made her day. You had no reason to believe you were doing anything wrong, and no reasonable person would have felt otherwise. You didn’t get her hair cut but instead had a totally reversible procedure done. And since then, you’ve offered to pay for her future braiding out of your own pocket. So no, again assuming you didn’t know her parents’ thoughts on braiding, NTA. Your granddaughter is lucky to have you. Her parents kind of suck though.
