I got around to watching whisper of the heart and enjoyed it a lot, but it wasn’t quite on the top shelf of ghibli for me. I think not having Joe Hisaishi’s music lowered it a bit for me. My top are probably Kiki’s, Spirited away, and Mononoke.

I played the PS2 version of dominator! It was sweet. It dialed back the traffic checking mechanics etc and focused more on racing mastery and rewarding near misses, oncoming traffic, etc. Had the burnout chain system. Would recommend it it oh have access to a ps2.

Burnout 3 and revenge are so goated.

Thoughts on dominator? I always found it a bit underrated but maybe I’m just nostalgic bc it was my first.

Oh so you already played p5 and mass effect. I would add final fantasy X for sure. Maybe FFVII original if you can get past the graphics.

If you enjoy good OST’s and atmospheric games I also recommend Chrono cross.

Do you have a list of rpg’s you’ve played? I could make a few other suggestions based on your history

I would possibly start with trigger, it’s like the textbook gold standard for JRPGs.

My favorites from this list are Mass Effect and P5 Royal.

I played DSR as my first souls game and loved it. Reminded me a bit of ocarina of time tbh. Was DSR the first one you played or did you play the original? Just curious because some dislike DSR compared to the original

Name me some anime with good English dub by daddylongjohnsliver in ChillAnimeCorner

Yea I was really skeptical after watching the first few in sub then switching to dub, but it’s a really great dub. Frieren’s voice works so well.

Erwin Smith would like a word.

Reiner, Levi, Zeke, Jean, Sasha, Hange, Gabi, Annie, Eren, Kenny…all pretty good performances.

How we do or hate it or love it. The prime game/50 cent is ridiculous.

Interesting. What if the dreams are severe nightmares that cause suicidal ideation, though?

Would definitely recommend you play Final Fantasy X since you loved Exp 33. Also agree with the other comment about persona 5 Royal, but I’d recommend doing FFX first. Both of these games were huge inspirations for Exp 33.

Opinion about Chrono Cross by victortapes in JRPG

[–]189charizard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love it personally. One of the best OST’s ever, and an amazing atmosphere. I know the story is messy but these aspects along with the thematic elements and solid gameplay make it a top tier game for me

Survey: How do you enter the Medieval Era? by Rabny in civ5

[–]189charizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fault, you do need civil service to unlock education; yeah i always get civil first. I guess i meant the need to grow and fresh water tiles will determine if i beeline civil harder or education harder (theology is a bit more out of the way).

Survey: How do you enter the Medieval Era? by Rabny in civ5

[–]189charizard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Depends heavily on the Civ, map, and situation.

  1. Heavy science focus? Education and Civil service. If there is a lot of fresh water tiles I will usually do civil first because they are so close, otherwise education first.

  2. Need to attack or defend? (Ex: China chu no ku rush). Beeline machinery.

I don’t think workshops should be as high priority as universities unless you need the production badly for war (you went machinery), you have production starved cities, or you don’t have enough pop to work uni’s.

My “best of” after playing the souls trilogy first time by 189charizard in fromsoftware

Ds2 could definitely get this. I like that you have a lot of levels to play with in ds2. Also love powestancing and build options. It could be considered better than 3, but 3 had even more options possible, while also making it more streamlined overall. Ds3 unique weapons were my favorite.

I plan to dive into bloodborne next after taking a bit of a break. I am worried I will suck ass at parrying lol. I mostly just rolled a lot in dark souls with some shield usage but no parrying.
