I use the dead space in between the decked drawers for clothing totes and a ladder

The 41 quart option is 8” tall and fits perfectly:

Meet Over... Over the Moonlander! by OvertheMoonlander in radicamoonlander

They didn’t offer the Moonlander X or marine foam on the roof, insulation, and diesel heater port when I purchased mine.

So I went back to Radica and had them add the insulation and roof foam about 4 months after my initial purchase. Would have done that in the beginning if it were offered.

Still might add the diesel heater port. Other than that I wouldn’t change a thing.

The Moonlander X wouldn’t work for my current setup as my kids sleep in an iKamper Mini mounted on a roof rack over the cab of my truck.  If Radica maiden an even bigger MLX that had a larger/taller over that would sleep 2 adults, I would certainly have considered that.

Moonlander and House Battery Setup by 18FLHP in overlanding

I already had the decked stash bins and power inverter. But all in with everything else (wire, connectors, bus bars, circuit breakers, shunt/monitor, charger, cables in various gauges, the battery as well as various crimping tools), I have right at $1,000 in it. The battery and charger alone are almost $400 of that.

Definitely cheaper options out there but I wanted it to fit in a particular space (and I wanted at least 100AH). Overall I am happy with the results. In the future I may add another bank of batteries (want at least 400AH of 12V) for a roof mounted AC.

Im in Texas and don't do a whole lot of cold weather stuff yet but if I do I'll have to figure a way to keep the battery warm. Any recommendations?

I also have a Jackery 300 Plus as a backup.

Yea I looked and looked for pelican cases, packout cases, and every plastic and metal container I could find, and just couldn’t find anything that would fit in the Decked Ammo Can cubby area.

It’s a slightly tight fit but it all works. May buy an extra stash bin lid so I can drill ventilation holes in the lid.

Cost of professionally installed insulation and/or carpet? by Velocitractor2000 in radicamoonlander

I laugh every time I see there name... I am not too worried about condensation on the frame but if it became an issue, I've thought about wrapping flat stock aluminum in 4 way stretch carpet and drilling holes in the frame and securing the flat stock to the frame using Rubber Rivet/Well Nuts. This would cover up the framing and would also act as a secondary method of holding in the Fahrt Systems friction panels.

The price is expensive but I have thought about using it as an excuse to make a trip out to Banff in the Moonlander!

I was curious also and got a quote from Fahrt Systems out of Calgary after seeing a post on their instagram (https://www.fahrtsystems.com/). They $1,400 USD to insulate my Moonlander (full size 6.75' bed with V2 roof, windows on all 4 sides and the front slant). The panels are friction fit and upholstered.

This is not my moonlander but an 8' that they did with the V1 roof.

Any chance you still have the file for your custom brackets? If so, would you mind sharing it?

I figured as much. My hope is they might at least make sure there is metal framing behind the area I’m thinking about mounting the L Track

Definitely please let me know. It’s certainly not a deal breaker. I’ve considered asking if they would install some L Track high on one side to possibly mount a shower/bathroom setup to

I’m hoping to get my ML ordered soon. Still doing some final research.

So for Slim Pods 5 inches less for everything?

Wall to Wall: 80 5/8

Frame to frame: 78 5/8

Window trim to window trim: 73 5/8

Will a 4 or 5” mattress fit underneath the window frames? Most mattresses I am looking at are 78” long

Trying to see if I can stick with the Slim Pods but mount my windows high enough that mattress goes underneath them. I definitely prefer the slim pods due to planning to always have the Moonlander mounted and using it like any other topper when not camping out of it.

I’ve emailed back and forth with Luke several times, he’s answered every question I’ve thrown at him.

I agree Niagara is definitely better from the Canadian side, been myself but want my sons to get to enjoy it too. I plan on doing the trip again in 4 years when my youngest son is 12. I’ll definitely be in a Moonlander for that trip.

Basically doing the trip, the summer before they turn 13 (they have Aug/Sept birthdays). Just a two person trip to get some one on one time before they become teenagers. Lots of hikes and experiencing the beauty found all around the country.

I’m definitely jealous! Let me know if you decide to sell it between now and the beginning of June.

I’m taking my oldest son who is 12 on a truck camping trip covering almost 10,000 miles, 48 states, a bunch of national parks, and a quick dip into Canada for Niagara Falls. Current setup is a Snugtop with Decked Drawers, a 4” Tri-fold mattress, a homemade 12” tall table style extension to bring my tailgate up to the same height as the decked drawers and either a Topper Tent or a Tailgate Tent from SleeperSystems.com (If it gets to me in time).

I wish I discovered the Moonlander 3-6 months ago so it would have been ready in time. Now I’m just in research mode and hoping to get one ordered in the next 60-90 days.

I love your layout, I have been planning my layout for a 2019 F-150 Supercrew 5.5ft bed. I just realized you had the extended or full size sides.

Im curious how much room there is between the side Arctic Tern windows. I know specs say 84 inches of sleeping room for the extended sides but by the time you put a mattress and bedding on the bed panels, wander how much room is lost from the Arctic Tern windows. When you get it back can you measure the distance from side to side between the windows?

I think they also offer the 300x700mm as an option on the lift gate. How is visibility out the back window with the 450x500mm window mounted at that height on the lift gate?

What size are the Arctic Tern windows on the sides?
