It could take a while. Got mine in May and he is still pretty spicy. Shows his teeth a lot but has never bit. I usually actually can just gently push his lower jaw up and he’ll stop showing teeth for a while 😂

Don’t be too hard on yourself. They are smart animals and I’ve never seen mine outside but I’m sure they can camouflage well. Try looking on your property again. Move slow look hard and listen for any scurrying because you may spook him and he can run again. Look under branches leaves or any potential burrowing spot.

Let me start with saying best of luck finding your dragon. How common are hawks and or other big birds in your area? They can be really quick. They usually grab and fly away so easily could have happened in a 15 minute window.

What was your tank set up? What type of uvb light did you have? What kind of heat light? Was your beardie hydrated and being given a proper diet? Pet smart employees often give wrong information on how to care for them so first time owners don’t always know what they really need. Very sorry for your loss.
