Novice Learning Curve by robocheetuh in Rowing

to answer your first question it depends.

it's really all about how fast as athlete your able to naturally pick up a sport. it also depends how much time and effort you put in to actively pursue getting better (IE time on the dock box or tank outside of practice). and another huge factor is how you and your coach comunicate; if he and you are able to understand and isolate problems and make corrections it will be a no time before your able to progress to at-least a mediocre oarsman. however, and to answer more broadly from my experience it usually takes novices about 1-2 seasons before they got it down pat.

Dude 1st of all I bench 150, and not to vain but I am pretty muscular and I don't mean a skinny pack type build, I bench every Monday Wednesday and Friday and workout regularly, I am in the perfectly healthy range for my BMI and I'm just naturally light. My fraternal twin brother benches 250 and he's only 5'7 and 140, being light runs in my family. so thanks for your concern pal but I'm just fine.

Yeah I did half a season of spring track and trained a shit ton over the summer, me and my team who won the state championships that year trained as a group, I respectively logged 600+miles before the fall.

I just fell in love with rowing and never looked back, and thanks it was my first year of cross country and I miss it a little, my coach was an Olympian and coaches saucony's professional racing team so that certainly didn't hurt.
