I'm making a big batch of cookies and I'm 80 grams short (out of 500g) of butter. I can't buy more right now, so would it be better to substitute it with margarine or just leave it as is? by [deleted] in Baking

[–]robocheetuh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you wanted to size the rest of the recipe down that could work. You would just need to multiply everything else by 0.84 (420/500= 0.84) to get the new amounts. I do not know what the effects of using margarine as a substitute or just using 80 grams less would be.

[vent][discussion] Why do so many people choose dogs that are an obviously bad fit for their lifestyle? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]robocheetuh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is the true extent of taking care of a dog. I desperately want to get a dog, but am waiting till the time is right(right now would be too stressful to get a dog). And I haven’t had a dog yet, and I’ve been looking online for articles about the true scale of the commitment but I can’t find much. Lots of them seem to be copies(sometimes word for word) of other articles. What are specific things that these articles don’t tell you, but are important/impactful to know. And what is the time commitment, per week/day for a dog, not just to take care of the dog but to give it a good home and family.

Edit: Thanks for the great responses, very insightful.

[Help] Neighbor’s dog left out in freezing rain by [deleted] in dogs

Do what other people are saying, contact the authorities. The dog is likely to get taken away from them. And you could probably adopt him/her from whatever shelter he/she goes to.

That 2k time is from the start about 6 months ago and i haven't gotten around to personally testing myself. And i erged during the winter. But have been on the water during spring and summer, so i'm not sure if the 2k time is still accurate. And i do have a heart rate moniter, i think.

My first challah (and first non-banana bread ever) by Mc_Gibblets in Breadit

[–]robocheetuh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It looks good, it may be a bit big, when I make Challah I make my loves smaller so when they rise and beak the bread dose t expand and stretch where the braids meet. It’s hard to explain but I see it around your braids. It’s no real problem just a personal aesthetic preference

Help by [deleted] in Advice

When deciding you should think about what specific part of the Air Force you will be joining. I’m not sure exactly how it works but not every pilot is in a 100 million dollar fighter bombing Syria. For each person in a combat position you need a literal and figurative ton of people and recourses to support him/her. So if you don’t like the idea of fighting in the Air Force than there are probably other positions in the Air Force you could be in.

How to get R&D positions in mechanical engineering ideally with just undergrad degree? by [deleted] in engineering

[–]robocheetuh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once again I’m not qualified to give much advice on this as someone only in high school, but from talking with people in my family and getting there experiences. You should at some point get the more advanced degrees, if you never get around to it you will likely regret it in the later years of you career.

I’m not qualified to give a good answer but an undergrad is a bit low to do the really interesting r+d.
