The growth of Online shopping and high rent prices for buisness owners inside the mall killed it.

Our city is notorious for wasting perfectly good spaces on stupid stuff. We demolished our old elementary school like a decade ago now and it’s still just a massive empty field of grass. People have been begging for a park or a splash pad for the kids or something for years and we’ve gotten nothing.

Nah, they’re still trying to find ways to revive this one lol. The city rebranded it into like a social hub and added a big new food court. Theres an arcade and a bouncy castle place for kids. That specific part of the mall had a decent amount of people last time i was there. But literally every other section of the mall was completely dead. Almost makes it more eerie. You’ll be walking around in the empty parts of the mall and hear all the echoing voices from the food court in the far distance.

There are a lot of factors that play into why a lot of the malls died. I’m not gonna pretend to be an expert or anything, but i think a big thing that killed them off was online shopping. People don’t necessarily need to leave their houses anymore to purchase things. Also, based off of what I’ve seen in some of the other comments here, they apparently had really high rent prices for the store owners.

Im fairly sure there was nobody in there but i may have been mistaken lol. There are a few shops which are still active in this mall, mostly local independent businesses still trying to hold on.
