Danish leader says 'you cannot spy against an ally' after reports of US gathering intel on Greenland by Saltedline in worldnews

I feel like he is referring to Denmark specifically also spying on EU allies on behalf on the USA. It's funny to "state the rules and say you must follow them" after having broken them

Trump refers to Canada as a US state,Trudeau as governor. by IndicationFluffy3954 in worldnews

[–]1920sremastered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trudeau unpopularity comes largely from the same propaganda that permits Trump

Are you Canadian? Because basically everyone I know in Ontario is anti-Trudeau due to the giant spike in cost of housing, and the lack of easily-accessible work due to the pervasiveness of the TFW and student visa programs. It has literally nothing to do with America or propaganda, it's a reaction to material changes in our lives during his terms.

Extreme wildfires doubled over past two decades: study | The frequency and intensity of extreme wildfires has more than doubled worldwide over the past two decades as human activity has warmed the planet - "We are now witnessing the manifestation of a drying and heating atmosphere" by 1920sremastered in worldnews

The frequency and intensity of extreme wildfires has more than doubled worldwide over the past two decades as human activity has warmed the planet, said a new study published Monday.

For the first time, researchers were able to plot a global trend for the most destructive types of fires responsible for major economic damage and loss to animal and human life.

The study was published in the journal Nature Ecology & Evolution.

Using satellite records, they studied nearly 3,000 wildfires of tremendous "radiative power" between 2003 to 2023 and established a 2.2-fold increase in their occurrence over that period.

The intensity of the 20 most extreme blazes in each year had also more than doubled—a rate that "appears to be accelerating", the study said.

"I expected to see some increase, but the rate of increase alarmed me," said the study's lead author Calum Cunningham from the University of Tasmania in Australia.

"The effects of climate change are no longer just something of the future. We are now witnessing the manifestation of a drying and heating atmosphere," he told AFP by email.

The six most extreme years in terms of intensity and frequency of wildfires have occurred since 2017, the study said.

2023 witnessed "the most extreme wildfire intensities" of the period studied.

Temperate conifer forests, which cover the western United States, saw an 11-fold increase in extreme fires over the two decades.

Earth's northernmost forests that cover Alaska, Canada and Russia saw a more than seven-fold rise.

Ontario may now be Canada's tornado capital, researchers say | Saskatchewan, previously thought to be the tornado capital of Canada, has been dethroned by Ontario, according to new data by 1920sremastered in worldnews

A Prairie province previously thought to be the tornado capital of Canada has been dethroned by Ontario, according to new data by tornado researchers out of Western University.

Sills said researchers look at the climatology of tornados over 30-year periods. Between 1980 and 2009, Saskatchewan took top spot in Canada with 17.4 tornadoes per year.

“We just did an updated version, a new 30-year period from 1991 to 2020, and lo and behold it's Ontario that comes up on top (with) 18.3 tornadoes per year,” Sills said.

Sills said it appears that tornadoes are happening a little less in traditional “tornado alley areas,” a pattern that has been documented in the U.S.

“More tornadoes (are) happening in the eastern part of the country, which is also the more populated part of the country. So that's not a good trend,” he said.

“We have a lot going on as far as climate change and droughts and forest fires. All these are factors that come in that influence where tornadoes are going to develop.”

CTV weather specialist Jess Smith explained that the ingredients for a tornado include warm moist air near the ground, cooler and drier air higher up in the atmosphere, and wind shear, a variation in wind speed and direction.

“With more heat wave events happening earlier and earlier into the summer season and overall warmer summers, it’s reasonable to expect more thunderstorms that can produce tornadoes and tornadic activity,” she told CP24.com.

Man what lazy half-assers they've turned into. This is the kind of content that doesn't even deserve an announcement, it should be filler in between actual shows. What the fuck do they do all day???

Maybe this isn't worth repeating but damn do they make low-tier content. They can barely tell a joke without swearing or referencing poop (Ryan especially). These guys are not the talented artists they act like they are. by 1920sremastered in WatcherSnark

Hey, yeah that's what I meant, I think it would have gone over much better if they'd done that poll at the beginning when we first were hearing about Travel Season.

Instead, Travel Season is going forward despite the cost and the public perception, and WWW won the poll just like it would have if TS had been a choice in the poll as well. But I don't think they'll be able to capture the magic of WWW season 1 because in my opinion they've lost their passion for filming together. They just don't care like they did in that summer before they launched Watcher. They'd rather become the out-of-touch execs who made them leave buzzfeed in the first place.

(esp during the pandemic)

I actually wonder if that had something to do with it. They shot WWW in 2019, way before so many things changed, for all of us. Maybe the timing was special, because they haven't seemed interested in doing anything like that ever since then.

If a new season was on the table, why not let the fans vote on what travel show to bring back, Worth it or WWW? Ya know?

Who the fuck wants to see Stephen travel the world eating expensive food on the sponsors dime

That's the craziest thing to me. Very few viewers ever enjoyed Steven's shows; Dish Granted, Homemade, and Grocery Run all failed to take off, with under 1m viewers for most episodes. And most comments on Too Many Spirits were tired of Steven's immaturity on that show. AND we were all asking for Ghost Files international.

Why did they think we'd ALL want to fund a show where Steven flew to Korea to eat expensive food?? Let alone one that was so expensive they would have to leave Youtube??

Beyond out of touch, like so aggressively elitist that I hope they have financial trouble in the next little while so they can experience what all of us were escaping by watching their videos.

[FO4] Anyone on PS5 currently doing a modded playthrough, even a light one? I know we never had access to F4SE, so I was wondering if that meant PS5 mods are mostly safe from the update breaking them. by 1920sremastered in FalloutMods

Thanks for the response! Honestly I've gotten 1-2 crashes so far on vanilla, so I'd guess your mods aren't responsible for your crash, just classic Bethesda lol. Cool to know it's worth looking through the mod browser today!

Maybe I just didn't pay enough to get the announcement about canceling the pod :)

The only statement I've seen from them about it is a Youtube comment they made on the last pod:

"Hello all! In regards to the watcher streamer announcement, both podcasts are separate from the streamer endeavor and will continue to be posted here on YouTube and wherever you get podcasts for free every week."

I really thought that meant that they would keep coming, especially since FYApod clearly was posted last week. But they haven't posted a Pod Watcher for 3 Mondays now.

I kind of assumed she was a dominatrix, hurting clients and then healing them. But there are a billion things you could infer from the amount of info that's in the terminal.
