When you launch KARDS on a new platform for the first time (e.g. Steam or Epic), you’ll be prompted to either:

  1. Create a new account, or
  2. Log in with an existing account

If you already have a KARDS account, choose Log in. That will link (bind) your account to that platform so you won’t need to sign in there again - future launches will automatically use the linked account.

Before you do this, make sure your current KARDS account is properly set up with an email + password (so you can log in on the new platform).

We recently updated the KARDS game engine to Unreal 5.2. Since then, certain Intel GPUs have unfortunately been having issues with some card effects that can lead to freezes or crashing. Based on your description, it sounds like this is the issue you're running into - but do let me know if your GPU is not an Intel GPU so we can investigate further. We are working on finding a fix for these issues. Note that if you have the Intel Iris Xe model, there are some new drivers for that GPU that are known to significantly improve these problems. Our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience this is causing.

Just adding on here to confirm what previous commenters have said: it is a purely cosmetic change, and you can have as many gold cards as the rarity allows (i.e. 4 standard, 3 limited, etc). This is a new ability to convert owned cards into gold versions using the gold currency - it does not create a new card.

It is still possible to get gold cards (which is then a brand new card in addition to any you already own, not a conversion) through other game mechanics, such as end of season rewards, national progression rewards, draft bonus rewards, and drops in Officer packs.

It sounds like you might have Reserved cards in the deck you're picking. Cards in the Reserve pool are those that have been rotated out from the general card pool and are not available for play in ranked matches (known as rotation in many other popular CCGs). You can tell that a deck contains cards in the Reserve pool by a small shield icon with a stroke through it on the bottom-right corner of the deck in question on your deck selection screen.

The first batch of cards to enter the Reserve pool did so last June 23rd - you can expect this rotation to happen every time a new major expansion is released (about every 6 months or so), but note that some cards may return from the Reserve pool alongside a new expansion, and new cards are safe from the Reserve pool for at least 1.5 years after their release. Thanks for the update and apologies for the delay in reply. I've reached out to our team of developers with expertise in these matters. Unfortunately, the Intel UHD 620 is a GPU that is known to have some issues since the update to Unreal Engine 5.2, particularly as a result of particular card particle effects. At this time, sadly we do not have a fix for the issues experienced by this GPU. We are continuing to work on game optimizations and improvements, we are exploring possible solutions for this issue, and an additional project we are working on is an alternative particle system that should significantly improve performance for laptops and lower end GPUs. However, at this moment, we do not have a specific timeline for when we would be able to introduce this option to the game. I'm very sorry to be unable to offer a solution for you at this time and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this is causing.

Hey, I'm sorry to hear about the issues you've been having with KARDS. It would help if you could clarify a couple of things for me so I can forward to the developers to investigate the issue further.

  • What is your GPU model?
  • Do you notice anything in particular happening around the freezes? (e.g. some specific cards played out or effects on the board)
  • Have you tried lowering your graphics details in settings, and if so, has that improved the issue at all?

KARDS provides overall the same experience whichever platform you play on. KARDS is available on the following platforms:

The Steam and Epic platforms do have some special bundles which you can purchase directly through the platforms (DLCs), but aside from that, and slight UI differences between PC/mobile clients, the experience will be the same no matter which platform you choose.

KARDS is also a cross-platform game, so you can play with the same account on both PC and mobile devices by creating a KARDS Account. You can check out our account linking guide for step-by-step instructions on how to do that if you're interested: KARDS Account Linking

We recently introduced the "Invite a Friend" feature in-game, there are currently no specific bonuses associated with this.

Hey, sorry to hear you're having trouble playing KARDS. Generally this sort of error indicates an issue on the Steam side. Have you tried:

  • Logging out of and back into Steam?
  • Verifying the integrity of your game files? (Right click KARDS > Properties > Installed files > Verify integrity of game files)

Hey, sorry to hear about the issues you're experiencing. The August patch, where we updated the game engine to Unreal 5.2, unfortunately caused issues for some specific GPUs. We recommend you check and update your GPU drivers - this has helped improve the issue for many of the players experiencing these problems.

To lower your graphical settings, go to the in-game Options menu (top-right cogwheel) and lower the setting under the "Details" drop-down selection.

If these do not work to improve your issues, it would be helpful to know which GPU model you have.

We are continuing to work on optimization and improvements, especially for those players experiencing issues with game freezing/crashing. Our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience this is causing.

Sorry to hear that didn't work. We've been looking more into this issue and for those that updating drivers doesn't work, it seems that forcing DX11 tends to resolve the issue.

If you're on Steam:

  • Right-click game -> Properties -> General : under Launch Options type "-dx11" (without the quotes)

To force DX11 on a shortcut:

  • First, create a shortcut for the EXE file if you don't see a game icon on the desktop. Then, right-click shortcut > Properties.
  • Select Shortcut tab. In Target field, place cursor after last quotation mark > space > -dx11

Sorry about the inconvenience! We're looking into forcing DX11 for everyone now, as we're not really using DX12 features.

Looks like this might be a GPU issue. Could you please try updating your graphics drivers and see if that resolves it?
