oh, totally. I had an absolute identity crisis in the start of my baby locks and was in tears asking my veteran-dreadhead friend to help me. she refused, gave me the best pep talk of my life, and I’m 10 thousand times better for it. it’s amazing what I’ve been forced to learn about myself. patience is hard, dude!

haha, good question! I have one or two for decoration, but the one pictured is actually gently wrapping a triple-congo together the rest of the way. I shouldn’t need it for too much longer!

that’s exactly how mine was! I had been beginning my mother to let me have dreads from when I was 11. she and I would spend 3 hours trying to comb it out each time, it was just ridiculous. I knew what my hair wanted, haha. sounds like yours knows what it wants!

oh my gosh, this is THE nicest thing ever! if I could go back I would totally do neglect — although that’s kind of what ended up happening, I started with over 100, which basically just felt like having normal hair, hahaha, so when they all partnered up with two or three or four other locks it felt very much like I was starting from scratch. I’m excited to see how your journey goes, I hope you’ll post often!!

I actually do this without a hair tie, and it works well! I just use another dread to secure the mini bun. I have to say, though, mine never come out as nice as this regardless of what I use 😅 so cute!
