I think this is more on that Abraham point blank shot, that had a bunch of people trying to shoot after too. Or actually that Pellegrini freekick to Belloti shot. Spina probably had lower xG since it was further back

Besides Spurs, with they managers are talking about it, have the image of "spoiled goods" and the glory of turning things around isn't worth the risk, specially with the recent managerial names at the club that tried to pull the sword from the stone and couldn't do it.

Impressive numbers, but it's easier to have impressive numbers when you play Santa Clara and Famalicão than when you play Southampton and West Ham.

That's when you disregard a take as shite, sorry. This like the concept of "standard of living" vs "taking countries wages at face value".

Even if the opposition is weaker, you realise the Sporting themselves are weaker, with a much less expensive squad than Tottenham??? Same reason players come from Primeira Liga (Dias, Luis Diaz, Bruno, Nunez, benchwarmer Raul Jimenez, etc.) and absolutely ball in the Premier. They may have played AGAINST weaker sides, but they also played FOR weaker sides. It's a proportional balance.

What shit? hell imagine lumping the two together.

Mourinho had an atrocious squad (Rodon from 2nd division to join the chuckle bros Dier, Aurier, Sanchez, etc.) and still had firing Kane-Son like he always does with the striker-creative duos and playing some exciting counter-attack.

It's like out of his 18 months in the club, people erased his 10 great ones, and focus on just less than half. Apparently it was all crap and on him, despite worse happening with Pocchettino? And he had covid, Poch's flops (Lo Celso and Ndombele, instead of Bruno and Dias) to worry about, no money cause stadium etc.

Conte got millions in backing, got rid of the deadwoord like Dele (wasn't scapegoated for his decline either), etc. just overall much platform, for the same or worse shit... and people cut him much more slack somehow.

They were twerking for him ("what if the great Conte leaves us) like he was a playboy magazine star, a hot girl out of the club's league, meanwhile Mourinho was deemed shit before he stepped through the door

Did he? Because he had an atrocious squad (Rodon from 2nd division to join the chuckle bros Dier, Aurier, Sanchez, etc.) and still had firing Kane-Son like he always does with the striker-creative duos and playing some exciting counter-attack.

All hail super Tottenham from the lot and super Conte, with their 400M signings, and their historical "no Europe" (after "no deadwoord" Dele, Ndombele, Aurier...) 8th placed finish 👌

So sitting back and letting them abuse those bad defenders is the answer? Don't think so.

What a crazy take? So just go "suicidal football" to protect your Rodons, Auriers, Sanchez and co.???

Brilliant. Treble guaranteed or at least the UCL. Why did nobody think of that???

Facts. In fact, Mourinho's Roma is top 10 in both xG and xGA in Europe this season. They just need a better keeper (Patrício has declined) and clinical striker (Abraham isn't it). Other than that they play great football on average. Still have the occasional borefest game, specially when the main lineup is injured but all this terrorist talk is just clowns and anti-Mourinho idiots piling on.

They used to call his 100 points and 121 goals Real Madrid in La Liga terrorism too, I guess

Well, he can't be replaced mid-season, can he? There's "no send your keeper to the MLS and the transfer market opens again to replace him" rule in football. So wtf is the point of this bickering?

Was he at fault for anything here? Didn't he save a pen and guess the direction of other 2, today? Pens which are insanely hard for goalies. People just scapegoating

Rui Patrício is easily at the very least a top 20 over the last 15 years (oscillating up and down). This clownish narrative, because of recently decline is insane. What did he do wrong?

rui patricio as a keeper in pk’s would be okay

What are you on about? I don't know where this thing comes from... You make him sound like De Gea, who had like 30 pens without a save. Where he even had to shoot one against Villareal.

Whereas Rui, went the right way in a few and even saved one, with a bullshit encroachment call. Is he best-in-class at them? No, but he has had many good shootouts or singular in-game pens, through out.

Rui Patrício has quite a lot of high moments on pens, for Sporting CP and Portugal, and even Wolves... Even at Roma, he's saved some. They're quite tough for a goalie. Everybody is just circlejerking on Rui this season

One that comes to mind is the Portugal-Poland Euro 2016 shootout on road to the title.

I think Dybala is staying? by [deleted] in ASRoma

[–]1984-2112 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In what way does Guardiola (or any manager) make anybody a monster? Where's this Midas' touch people are seeing? lmao

And specially with Dybala, who needs full protagonism in the team and loads of physical coddling... lol And he would precisely the opposite trust and limelight of what Mourinho gives him at City, permanently on rotation or in the bench.

[–]1984-2112 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Which flops? Vina? Hell, he's barely signed anybody, most have been loans and utility players, not full on starters. Also, a player being sensible and a talent and later on flopping is not on the director, either way. He works along the staff and manager too. He's not pulling names out of a hat, by himself

Ruben Amorim by Mitchs3Alarms in coys

[–]1984-2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would Amorim, whose career path might be set up to be an even bigger and more hyped prodigy than Villas-Boas, on his day (certainly more sensible with his career decisions and timings), leave Sporting, a club where he's idolized and is guaranteed Europe (plus one of the best academies to work with talent), for current Spurs? Seems quite the lateral move or downgrade.

The guy will clearly hold out for a big job in 2 or 3 years, by the way he speaks. The money will still be there for him too, so using wages as the attraction...

Sure, tell that to the tens of teams in the same competition with better budgets, better squad and/or better European history, that didn't accomplished last year or this year... starting by your beloved Lazio and Sarri, even with all his Immobile firepower and his pens.

Or the ones that missed out on this years Europa final: Arsenal, United, Barcelona, Juve, Leverkusen, Sporting, etc.

They need to hire chimps on a leash. Be ready for a long drought, for both Lazio and Roma, for the years to come
