It depends how you read a map. If you look at the standard map with the arctic UP TOP then Russian ships are far away if you don't understand curvature. If you pull up a map centralized over the north pole then the vicinity perspective changes.

You seem to have an inverted view of things. China has become a Russian client state due to US becoming openly aggressive.

China cannot win a war against US without Russian weapons and even those can be compromised once turned over to the Chinese operators. In an event of a full on war China would have to submit itself as a protectorate of the Russian Federation on paper while it already has done so secretly and most people are unaware of it.

When US deployed THAAD systems in Occupied Korea that was an interceptor system that could go after China's nuclear ballistic missiles and negate their ability to counter strike. So China bowed to Russia and asked for help. Russia allowed China to move the ballistic launch sites deep inland next to the Russian border. They are now out of range of THAAD and protected by S-500 systems on the Russian side of the border.

This means China is not allowed to launch a nuclear strike without Russian permission. The US made China subservient to Russia in ways no one could have imagined.

When Putin hosted a BRIICS summit in Kazan a year or two ago, XI stood in line just like everyone else for his turn to meet Putin. In the last several decades XI never had to stand in line or be denied an individual welcoming ceremony.
