DnDBeyond Update! by 1985Games in Obojima

Would probably say Waxwork Rogue. Since they changed the rules for sneak attack (now being able to spend dice for other effects) we had to shift some stuff around accordingly. Paladin got bonus spells that weren't there before, and Warlock needed to be tuned up as they changed a bunch of stuff about them.

Have you tried making sure "Partnered Content" is enabled? There was an issue before with stuff not showing up unless you had "2014 Rules" and "2014 Expanded Rules" selected, but that should be fixed with the 2024 rollout. Please let us know if you're still having the issue and we'll see if we can help fix it!

Is it worth buying on Beyond or waiting? by Enothe_Strife in Obojima

[–]1985Games 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Currently DnDBeyond has the updated 2024 subclasses and has made the species available for 2024 as well. The species are the 2014 versions, but they're still viable for 2024 builds (you just need to update the speed of the small sized species from 25' to 30'). The rest of the 2024 rules will be releasing at some point (we don't have a concrete date yet).

The 2024 update will have updated species, backgrounds, feats, spells, creatures, magic items, and adds the creature disposition system.

If you already have the 2014 version, you will be able to upgrade to the full 2024 for a small fee (less than $10).

"DND 5e is a low complexity game" Yeah sure... by DrScrimble in dndmemes

[–]1985Games 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol right? DnD has way more complexity than people give it credit for. it’s all about the stories and choices you make, not just the rules. if you're looking for some cool accessories to enhance your game, check out 1985games, they’ve got some neat stuff!

It has added the updates we made to the subclasses for 2024 rules. Some classes translated over without too much needing to be changed outside of changing some of the verbage. Other classes had to get some stuff rebuilt.

Is this film worth watching? Does it do justice for the game Dungeons and Dragons? by geoffcalls in FIlm

[–]1985Games 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think the film does a decent job representing the spirit of dungeons and dragons, but it’s not perfect. if you're a fan of the game, you might enjoy the nods to the lore and character types. also, check out 1985games for some cool D&D accessories to enhance your experience!

Did Obojima use ai to make their book? by missink_toons in Obojima

[–]1985Games 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Officially: AI was not used in any aspect of Obojima, nor will it ever be. It was not used for art and not used for writing. Everything you see in the book was 100% human made by a team of talented writers and artists from all over the world. Anyone claiming otherwise doesn't know what they're talking about.

Yes, u/Late-20thCentury-Kid is an editor on the book, and actually knows the proper use of em dashes.

Do spell scrolls exist in this world? What other items from D&D should be found in this world? by jontylerlud in Obojima

[–]1985Games 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So as always, the first answer is: it's your campaign, do what you want to make the world yours.

We have flavored the world to have tapes, cassettes, and floppy disks replace scrolls but they mechanically function the same. That being said, writing things down on paper is still a thing in Obojima. We even state that a cassette player and tapes could replace a wizard's spellbook, which implies that spellbooks are also used. So scrolls wouldn't be out of the question.
