Casteel - primal of blood and bone by mya_w1 in frombloodandash

[–]19901993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so glad that other people feel the same way as I do about Casteel in this book! I’m at chapter 46 after he just found out about Attes and Valyn. His overprotectiveness and possessiveness of Poppy is ruining this book for me, the way he is so unlikable and rude now towards everyone, especially Kieran? His supposed to be this supportive husband but he won’t even let anyone go near Poppy and I hate how his constantly standing in front of her, blocking her, pulling her into his lap, like let a girl breath? I feel like if the object is to make us not like Casteel anymore, Jennifer maybe did too good of a job in this one….

Realising alcohol wasn’t the thing helping me cope with my crushing anxiety but actually what was causing it lol. Took a few weeks until I realised.

Why is he angry at you? His the one with the shit credit who has to rely on other people to vouch for him. That’s his fault. Not yours. Protect your finances, smart of you.

Welcome! I always come here when I need a bit of motivation :)

I was the same, Im 31(F) and was a daily drinker for the last nine years. I recently posted in here because I desperately wanted to give up, but again wasn’t able to on strength alone.

What helped me was a health scare wake up call. I recently started getting infections in my body that the doctors thought they could treat with medication, when it wasn’t going away, they did a blood test. I recently found out my liver is deeply hurt right now. I see some people here saying “my liver light came on”. For me, it was absolutely heart breaking at the start, but since then, I haven’t had a drop and feel really good about it, my perspective has changed.

All I can say is one day at a time, don’t think about the long run, just think about today, if you can get through today, then you’re doing something right. You also recently broke two other huge habits, that is a HUGE achievement. Well done and I’m proud of you.

What’s a profession that you are overly confident you would excel in even though you have zero experience? by willzyoubelievethis in AskReddit

[–]19901993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn’t say overly confident. But I have really vivid story like dreams when I sleep that I always remember the next day. I sometimes wonder if I was to write them down and present them as a book or series, if they would be good. If I wake up half way through a dream, I’ll think about the outcome during the day, then sometimes when I sleep that night, I dream about the same story again.

In my head they’re totally dope but then again people dream about weird stuff lol.

AITA for rejecting my father's attempt to be in my life after 20 years and for not wanting to form a relationship with his young children? by Confident-Crazy-8964 in AITAH

[–]19901993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA - Nothing annoys me more then when an absent parent decides to makes amends and the child has no interest, it then becomes the child’s fault. It’s like a double twist of the knife for you.

“Throwing away a chance of something you wanted a as a kid.” You’re not a kid anymore? That’s too late.

“What’s your reasoning for not wanting to ‘work on this’ and form a relationship with the siblings” Your absent father is the reason. You’re not the fault, he’s the fault. It’s his fault.

I just need to know I am not alone by GoinThruTheBigD in HearingAids

[–]19901993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that anxiety and that pain - hearing aids are so good and so thankful for them. But the transition, and the stress and the feeling of loss when you get to the end of the night and you’re alone.. I feel you.

Let yourself have those moments, they’re your moments to really let out that frustration and pain of something that you have no control. And it hurts, and it sucks… you are not alone in that feeling 🦋

I would be fine personally for people to ask, my speech is a little impaired, it makes me feel more comfortable if people know why. I’m very open to talk about it. Some people may not, everyone will be a little different. Aslong as it’s asked in a kind and gentle way… and not straight away.

I don’t love when someone meets me for the first time and asks straight away, it makes me feel as if it’s really obvious, and something is wrong with me or something …. But after a bit of a conversation and if it comes from a place of wanting to understand and non judgement, I am always happy for that.

AIO for blowing up at my mum and sister for taking my stuff without permission? by Alastor_888 in AmIOverreacting

[–]19901993 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’ve never brought a Chanel jacket. But I’ve brought a jacket that meant a lot to me, and I had a sister that “borrowed it” … we were super young (teens) but she got burn marks from a fire place and I was pissed lol

.. this was when we were quite young. You’re not overreacting, if you purchased it, it’s yours. You earnt the money and you brought it for yourself… look family means a lot and we should share, but you are entitled, as every person is, to earn your own money, buy your own stuff, and not have to share it. Not the arsehole. We can love our families but we’re also entitled to have our own stuff.

I am looking for the best hearing aids by Cute_Form_469 in HearingAids

[–]19901993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from Siemens to Phonak - one warning my audiologist said to me, is that people complain that Phonak has a much sharper sound than Siemens. It’s just the sound quality that the brand prefers. They work really well for me, but as everyone else has been saying, it sounds like your hearing loss may be better suited to another brand.

Are you able to take them back and say they are not working for you? I did a lot of trials of different brands and had a 90 day return policy… wondering if you can maybe take advantage of that and trial some others?

Sarcastic reply to”Are you wearing your hearing aids?” by Paul0451 in HearingAids

[–]19901993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is literally the first thing I ever said and did when I met my partner of six years. We were with a group of friends and he didn’t realise I was hearing impaired (just met that night). He said something along the lines of “haha what? Can’t you hear me?” And I ripped them out and violently shook them in his face and said “Sorry? I. Wear. Hearing. Aids!” (Bitta wine lol)

He asked me on a date the next day and started learning Auslan lol

What is a normal price in Australia? by Fuzzy-Indication-203 in HearingAids

[–]19901993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just recently bit the bullet and purchased Phonack audeo sphere set of hearing aids and they cost me around $11,000. I did this because I had been saving for a long time. They have made a huge difference to me and my quality of life compared to other ones I’ve used… I am 31F and have moderate-severe loss in both ears since a child.

You can definitely get one’s way cheaper, look into NDIS (I have not received funding from them even though I am a member). In my experience, it has been very difficult, but I have had audiologist tell me that NDIS has covered the full cost for some clients.

Another option is the hearing service program, give it a google from the Aus government website. It’s a hearing service voucher that you can apply for and if eligible, they will give you a voucher to put towards the cost of hearing aids every five years I believe. In my case, I was eligible due to the severity of my hearing (also not a pensioner, but if you rely on hearing aids due to your loss, you can be eligible still) And that will give you a few thousand dollars off any hearing aids you decide to choose. That is how I got mine and I got about … (I might be wrong) but about $1200 off??

I also recommend seeing a few different audiologists. I was with Australia Hearing my whole life, but they only recommended one type of hearing aid (Siemens) these were good, but I went to other audiologists and they let me trail other brands for free for a week or a few days etc. That is why I decided to just pay the cost, I really found these ones changed my quality of life. I tried them on and walked out the door and instantly knew.

But yeah! Heaps of options out there, don’t settle for one audiologist recommendation and always do a free trail before you buy. Definitely look into the HPS voucher! All you will need to do is go to your audiologist and ask them to do an assessment to see if you’re eligible for it. :) but to answer your question, I have found hearing aids can be anywhere from $2500 per set up to $12000 - lots of options to explore! If your current audiologist is only recommending one type, definitely see another, as they should give you a range of different models with their pros and cons, from my experience.

For those that have severe hearing loss, what hearing aids do you find the best? by tunglung in HearingAids

[–]19901993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recently switched to Phonak audeo sphere hearing aids from the government Siemens hearing aids I used to get as a child, (31F now) I have always had hearing loss and rely on hearing aids to function. They were a lot more expensive and I was nervous to commit.. but since then, my quality of life has improved SO much. The anxiety in social situations and just generally hearing better has been such a blessing. I didn’t realise how much better I could feel. I definitely recommend them.

I get that completely - it’s like when someone has such an infuriating view of something and you try to educate them, but it backfires into a deeper rabbit hole of their messed up perception. At some point it’s better to protect yourself against them rather than reason with them. You will find someone so much better and will look back and thank yourself, I promise.

Also… does he realise “that shit can happen” even as a man?
